I have been waiting such a long time to tell you about Pai’s BioAffinity toners! Oh OK, about a month, but still. I have wanted to include them in loads of bits and pieces, but couldn’t because they weren’t out yet – but now, just this minute, they have arrived! Regular readers will know that I love Pai skincare for my ‘sensitive’ days – I use something from them pretty much every day now, whether it be the cleanser (I’m on my third lot!) the Echium Eye Cream or the Rosehip Oil.

Now we’ve touched on toners recently; I think that many of them are a waste of time – they contain too much alcohol that strips your skin, or they’re just very expensive water. However, I love the feeling of a toner on my skin after cleansing and always have done – especially when it’s hot, and so I’m always on the lookout for ones that actually do something. Pai’s BioAffinity toners use waters directly from inside plants so that they are rich in minerals and amino acids rather than just comprising of a bit of rose water and alcohol. Like all Pai products, the entire list of ingredients is out on show (no nasties hidden behind words such as ‘parfum’!) so that people with allergies and serious skin sensitivity can check for compatibility with their skin.

I have been testing out the Rice Plant & Rosemary Toner and have found it to have quite unexpected benefits. Obviously I was hoping that it would be brilliant, but really, how much can you expect from a toner? This one, though, has been made for combination skin that is also sensitive, so it covers what – at first – you would expect to be quite a niche problem. But how many people have an oily t-zone that also feels red and inflamed or just a bit sore? Swiping something that’s a bit ‘zingy’ over it might make it feel fresher, but the alcohol will probably increase skin sensitivity and, in the long-run, make the t-zone even oilier. (I’ll hold my hands up and say even I, Mrs Skincare OCD, likes a quick wipe of an astringent toner now and then!)

Since trying out the Pai, however, I’ve had the same fresh feeling but without the tightness or ‘stripped’ sensation. In fact, my skin feels strangely moisturised after using it so now and then (once a week or so) I have been skipping the moisturiser altogether! The water doesn’t stop oiliness or mattify the skin in any way, but it’s soothing and calming and provides the refreshment that I need in these humid August days.

There’s another toner too, the Lotus & Orange Blossom, which is for dry and sensitive skin. I almost want to have dry and sensitive skin just so that I can try it! Both toners are completely alcohol free making them suitable for any skin type, including Rosacea sufferers and those prone to acne. They cost £30 for 50ml – pricey, but top quality. If you’re looking for luxury skincare but have to be careful what you use, I’d thoroughly recommend anything from Pai.

I almost forgot the offer! That’s what happens when you write posts late at night with only one eye open…

This is only for readers of A Model Recommends and I think that it’s a brilliant deal! Pai are offering an anti-ageing Echium Eye Cream (click through for my review) for every reader when they buy a toner. The eye creams are usually £24! Hurrah! All you have to do is type “PAI4AMR” (as in, pai for a model recommends!) at checkout. You get free shipping, too! (The offer shows up as a discount of 1p on your order, the eye cream won’t show.)

I’d love to know how dry and sensitive skins get on with the Lotus & Orange Blossom – both as a refreshing spritz and a toning sweep before moisturiser. (FYI, I have been following my Rice Plant & Rosemary with Pai’s Rosehip Oil. I find that I don’t need a moisturiser after this.) Right, I’m off to bed!

You can order the toner from Pai Online here: http://tidd.ly/4b2f0169

**The offer for AMR readers runs until next Friday at Midnight. There may be a delay in US offer showing up – see comments below! xxx**

I think you have me hooked on PAI stuff! :D

  2. Hali says:

Aw, I guess these aren’t available in the US yet. Or at least the site keeps navigating me away from your link when I choose USA and Canada : ( I’ll keep an eye out for them, though, thanks.

  3. Nina says:

Hi Ruth! Thank you very much for this tipp. I’ve been wanting to try out Pai’s skincare range for a while and it seems that I can have a freebie with it too now. But do you know why the toners cannot be found on their website?

    • admin says:

@Nina which country are you selecting? I think maybe they only appear for UK, but they did say they were delivering worldwide, I’m sure of it! xx

  4. Sandy says:

Omg such a fantastic deal! I really love Pai, so thanks a lot for such a great recommendation. I tried the sample set, loved it and got the sensitive duo. I’m sure this toner will be simply amazing too. But now guess it’s time for me to worry about trying to fit Pai into my skincare routine when it’s already chock-jammed with Alpha H products :S

    Hi guys,

Thought I’d just give an update on the BioAffinity Toners internationally.

The BioAffinity toners are now available on the UK, Ireland and USA Pai websites. We’ll be adding them to the other sites within the next couple of hours.

For US & Canada customers, please note we’ll upgrade your delivery to a next day FedEx delivery, as we don’t have these products in our LA or Toronto warehouses – so you’ll get them a bit quicker than USPS/ CanadaPost.

    Best wishes,

    Ed

Hi! Try going to the Pai website first, then choose your country in the upper right hand corner. Leave that page open in the background and then go back to this page and click on the AMR link and you should be able to find it on the Pai website that pops up! That’s how I found it on the Ireland site–it wasn’t working otherwise. Thanks for the brilliant review and special AMR deal!:-)

    • admin says:

@Julia thanks Julia! I think that they are in the process of fixing it too – the toners only went live last night, I think! xx

  7. Sandy says:

Hi! Decided to do it and order anyways lol. Anyroad just like to know if the free eye cream deal is still on? Coz after entering the code, all I see is a deduction of £0.01 but no eye cream in sight. Kindly advise, thanks!

  8. Sandy says:

  9. Karen says:

    Hi Ruth
Would you recommend the rosehip oil as an alternative to the likes of Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair serum?
    Thanks xx

    • admin says:

@Karen yes – it’s also great for rejuvenating and repairing the skin. I think it’s amazing! And it’s better for sensitive skin that the ANR I’d imagine.. x

  10. Jan says:

Thanks so much for this Ruth – I have used PAI on your recommendations and am really enjoying it. Jan x

  11. Marina says:

On the US site they are still charging me for delivery? Is that correct or are US customers supposed to get free delivery too?

  12. Tora says:

Ooh! That sounds perfect. I agree, the sensation of toners is so refreshing, and zingy! Just like you said.

I will note that, because I can’t help myself, that “pai” is the Norwegian word for “pie”. It is love!

  13. Ida says:

Are you doing a Lierac post soon? :D

  14. Ed says:

Hi Marina, There is free delivery to USA and Canada and the minimum is $60.

Done! Thanks so much for the rec, Ruth. Sarah Brown was extremely helpful and thorough in her replies. I ordered the entire range. Ooopsie. Hope I like it as much as you do!

  20. Jan says:

Just as an update, I received my Bio Affinity Toner today along with the eye cream – ordered Saturday, received Tuesday, so the code worked. I can’t thankyou enough for this Ruth it is perfect and I am delighted. On the rioting subject, I am thinking of you, my sister is not far from Peckham, and I work in West Birmigham not far from West Bromwich where it started to kick off mid-afternoon today. Jan x

    • admin says:

@Jan so glad it worked!! I LOVE the toner, have been using it all of this week and last week every day. One spritz to the middle of the face then quickly patting it in all over. Has hardly made a dent in the bottle so far – good job, as not the cheapest, but so good! xx

  21. Bobbie says:

Amazing! Thanks Ruth. I ordered yesterday morning and received today. A bit of good news in the midst of all the anger in reading the beastly behaviour of rioters.

  22. Suzi says:

Perhaps Sarah of Pai is on vacation, so I am hoping you are able to answer my question: I received the “whole enchilada” and am really enjoying it thus far. Am using the muslin in the a.m. and my Clarisonic Mia with the cleanser most evenings. The cleanser, especially, reminds me of Aveda in its infancy when it was still owned by Horst Rechelbacher; both consistancy and scent, but I completely digress.

My emails to Sarah asked if I was supposed to use the eye cream in the evenings as I only use the moisturizer in the a.m., as per her recommendation. I was also instructed to use the Rosehip oil only a few evenings/week. My skin is a bit dry after cleansing at night, so I might increase the oil, or start using the moisturizer in the evenings as well. Again, I digress.

I understand that you may not be able to answer my question about the eye cream in the evening without moisturizer, but nothing ventured….

Thanks again. Am v. pleased so far!

    • admin says:

@Suzi I’m not sure what type of skin you have, but mine is combi, and I would say two things: 1) I had to take down my Clarisonic use to just twice or three times a week as it’s pretty hardcore, especially if you’re cleansing with a cloth in the morning too! That’s quite a lot of (gentle) abrasion going on there! 2) Using the Clarisonic makes my skin quite dry and tight and so I’d say that you’d really want to me using the moisturiser afterwards! I use a moisturiser twice a day, albeit a much lighter one at night – sometimes just my Pai toner and then some serum or a few drops of Rosehip Oil, but then if I was using the Clarisonic I would definitely have to get that moisture back in! Hope that helps a little – I’ll also flag up for Pai that they have a question on here in case they have missed your email. xxx

  23. Julia says:

I just received my toner (the Lotus and Orange Blossom one) and eye cream in the post today. Can’t wait to try them! I have used Pai products for a few months now after a recommendation from my local stockist here after a skin allergy and I love everything they do! I also got to meet Sarah at an in-store event and she gave wonderful advice, my skin has improved so much with the cleanser, moisturizer and Rosehip oil and I’m delight to try the toner now too. Thank you Ruth and Pai for your collaboration!:-) Two of my favourite things (AMR blog and Pai) together!

  24. Suzi says:

@ Ruth- it helped a whole lot. Thanks so much! Sarah has quite an excellent P.R. person in you! xox

  25. Jeanet says:

It’s terrible, I’m allergic to this toner. All in my face I have red spots :(
