This has been one of my most-requested videos ever so I thought I’d post it up for you to see. I have only just posted about Liquid Gold so regular readers will have a head-start with this video, but it’s basically about the two quite significant changes I have made to my skincare routine this summer. Using Glycolic is one of them (again, see Liquid Gold post!) and the other is deep, thorough cleansing on a daily basis. Have a watch, or skip to the product list below the video if you can’t be bothered to sit still for ten minutes!

My skin has always been pretty good (apart from the typical spotty teen years) and so I was quite surprised when it got even better. It has been unbelievably clear, glowy and blemish-free for a number of months now so I would like to categorically state that my ‘tweaking’ of skincare routine has been an official success!

Your skin does look amazing Ruth! I’m definitely going to try Alpha H once I’ve used up all my products. I’ve heard so much about them! I wouldn’t at all mind watching your longer videos! Great to look at during lunch breaks or listen to while I’m cooking dinner :) I hope that i will soon discover my ideal skincare routine for my sensitive skin! Can’t wait to see your next posts and videos!

Great vid, Ruth! Thanks for all the helpful info… gonna have to get my hands on some Liquid Gold now. :)

One question: Are you still loving the Clarisonic… or no?

P.S. Tried out the ‘Quick & Easy After-Beach’ look yesterday and, if I do say so myself, it looked great. ;) Thank you!!

  4. The Clean Beauty Blog says:

Great video! I know it’s supposed to be all about the skincare but goodness, your hair is so super shiny it’s distracting!

  5. Style Souk says:

    Thirty! The Big 3-0?

I can’t believe that we are the same fricking age and yet, in the brief clip without makeup, you look a child!

If these are the results, I will gladly buy your product recommendations by the hundred.

  7. flick says:

wow, the Alpha H Liquid Gold is definitely on my list. What is the glycolic concentration percentage?

Do you think your educogym diet had a positive impact on your skin (I’ve just been told my hormones are out of whack and to consider a high protein/lower carb (but some low GI carbs) so I wondered if your diet made a difference with respect to hormones and blemishes) xx

    • admin says:

@Flick yes, maybe! Although I can’t be sure as I started the LQ in May and the diet changed in July! xx 5% in the LG. x

    Hey,Ruth.
I got my Pai Toner at the beginning of this week. When I sprayed it on me, I thought the feeling was quite normal. On the second morning,my skin looked so great, sometimes I only had it on and night cream, still fabulous result. Can’t wait to try more Pai.And I’d like to ask is that ok to use Pai rosehip oil if I get combination skin? Thanx.

I LOVE this eyeshadow on you!

  10. Lise says:

What are the ingredients of the liquid gold? Can’t seem to find them online, but I read somewhere that it contains alcohol?

    • admin says:

@Lise yes, alcohol is the second ingredient. It’s needed to ‘deliver’ the other ingredients, apparently, although I can’t remember more than this. I shall have to find out! x

Was just wondering RUth, I usually use a glycolic product on my skin in the evening,(And am now going to try the alpha-H! Very Excited!) In the morning though, I only put on my Lancome cream which has SPF30 in it, do you think this is enough protection or should I really be slapping on a sunscreen on top? My skin doesnt relly cope well with too much on it at once though..:-S

How young do you look without your make-up? I’m about 100 years older when I’m au natural :-)

  13. Jill says:

Hi Ruth! I’m in California, and I can’t seem to find Alpha-H anywhere – or any online site that delivers here. Any advice? Also have a mate in London right now – is there a store she could visit to pick it up for me?

    xx

    • admin says:

@Jill LookFantastic (link given in post) say that they ship free to the US. Is that not right? I have double-checked! x

  14. isa says:

Love the skincare posts – and love the fact that you take your recommendations very seriously. Definitely gives ModelRecommends a lot of integrity, unlike a lot of blog-type sites out there! Do you think Alpha H is appropriate for slightly acne-prone skin?

    • admin says:

@Isa yes it is. I have had many reports that it actually can work wonders! Of course no product agrees with every skin-type, so there’s always some trial and error involved! x

  15. Jill says:

Silly me! Just saw it was a UK site and assumed. Should have known you’d already sussed it out. Kit purchased! Thanks, Ruth!

  16. White Cat says:

Not sure where to post this but since it proclaims to be a “skincare miracle”,was wondering if you had any experience with Creme de la Mer? is it worth the price-tag?

    • admin says:

@White Cat I only have limited experience with it, I’m always a little sceptical when something has a ‘secret wonder ingredient’ that has no chemical name! But one of my best friends is addicted to the stuff – maybe I should do some serious testing on it! It would have to be over winter, though, as it’s too rich for my skin right now! x

    Hey Ruth,

Thanks so much for introducing me to AHA!
I’ve had good skin for most of my life, but these days my chin area is being acne-prone due to lots of stress. So I was looking into eating healthy, reducing stress and I got to know about AHA. And I bought a local product containing AHA at a reasonable price. Its been only about 3 days but I already notice the differences!
So thank you so much! I read your posts every day in my email. You look so rad for your age. Thanks again

hi ruth, amazing post..didn’t know why it took me so long to find out.Thank u so much for educating me on skincare.i want to ask you two question. hope you’ll answer me when u have time.
i ordered alpha h liquid gold and serum with the balancing cleanser. was wondering whether i can use the alpha h absolute eye complex the days i use liquid gold.
and also can u please recommend me a good moisturizer.. i tend to break out when using heavy moisturizers.i’m 28 years old btw.

    • Ruth says:

@Liea ooh, nice! Yes, you can use the eye complex all the time. If you want to stay in the same brand, the Essential Moisturiser is very good. Quite light. I’m also using Etat Pur light moisturiser at the moment.. x
