Liz Earle Botanical Shine Treatment

When Liz Earle launched their Botanical Shine range of hair products last year I was instantly a fan. The shampoo left my scalp and hair really clean without stripping it with harsh chemicals, so it swiftly became one of my most-used shampoos. The conditioner, on the other hand, didn’t completely rock my boat. There was nothing particularly wrong with it, it just didn’t leave my hair supersoft, which meant that I had to also use a leave-in treatment. I always hoped that they would bring out a more intensive product, and now they have – the Liz Earle Botanical Shine Treatment. Formulated for frizzy, coarse or very dry hair, it’s a deep conditioner that needs to be left on for at least ten minutes (so perfect to use during a long soak) and then rinsed out. I was worried that it might be too heavy for my fine hair (lots of fine hair!) but it worked perfectly.

I left it on for the bare minimum, ten minutes, and could immediately tell that it had worked some magic. My hair was easy to comb through before rinsing, and after rinsing it had a glossy feel to it without any slimy residue. After air-drying naturally, my hair was beautifully glossy and shiny. Not, perhaps, quite so glossy as with some other intensive treatments (K-Pak, SEAH Cashmere, et al) but pretty darn good. If you’re a Liz Earle addict then you’ll definitely want to add this to your collection – it’s much more expensive than the standard conditioner, but if you’re using it as a weekly treat it’ll last that much longer.

The Botanical Shine Treatment is £14 from lizearle.com

I’m addicted to having the glossiest hair possible, and the brand I usually use is now discontinued- I need a use-every -day glossing conditioner that’s cheap, but really effective… any recommends please? xxx

@Sue I have found that the leave-in treatment oils give more gloss once dry than any conditioner! Have you tried any? Have you also tried SEAH cashmere? It’s amazing for glossiness, but it’s not cheap : ( What colour hair do you have, Sue? Is it dyed or permed? x

    Hi Ruth,
Might try this asap! I love natural products. Btw, have you tried anything from greenpeople.co.uk? Received a voucher from a friend and not sure what to get :D Thanks and keep up with the fab work! *much love*

Dyed dark brunette @ the mo’, think I’ll be keeping it as I rather like it! It appears to be in really good condition, despite using a home dye, John Frieda’s mousse (which, incidentally, doesn’t run after the initial rinse,or leave my hair as dull, flat and dry as dying can leave it). So, ashamed to say haven’t tried any leave in oils yet, or the SEAH cashmere… def need, and would appreciate, some oil recommends, and under £20 I can live with. Glossy hair is worth it! Thanks so much xxx!

p.s. also have fine hair xxx

@Sue OK, I have fine hair too. Mythic Oil works really well (it’s about £12 I think) and also Bonacure Oil. If you want to just have a little no-risk try then have a go with VO5 Miracle Oil, you can get it in Tesco or Boots! See last hair video xx

Thanks so much, Ruth! caught up with the hair vid- don’t know how I missed it in the first place, but have been having brain fog with flu. I wash mine as frequently as you, and air dry too, so the products you use will be good for mine. Can’t stand my hair on day 3, always feels lank! I’ll try the oils and SEAH cashmere, and will probably like them more than the stuff I was using. Sometimes it’s a good thing when something I’ve been using gets discontinued, as I get into a bit of a rut when I find something I like xxx
