Jumble of Juicy Things!

Come on – tell me this picture doesn’t make you feel summery?

This is my jumble of juicy things. Fruity flavours and bright, candy colours. I thought that it would be a nice way of doing some mini reviews – just to let you know what’s out there or, in a couple of cases, about to be out there!

Here goes.

The huge bottle contains Philosophy Frosted Cookie bath and shower gel. I have to warn those on a diet that if they smell this bubble bath they will immediately want to run to their nearest Pick ‘n Mix counter. Philosophy do make the most mouthwatering fragrances don’t they? Completely synthetic ones, but still. Moreish. £14 from Selfridges.com

The lipstick to the left is Lancome’s Rouge in Love Shade 146B, a brilliant coral shade that’s immensely flattering. It will look AMAZING with a bit of a tan! £21 from Selfridges.com

Dior Vernis in 231, BIKINI. I will pop this on my nails soon for all to see! I don’t think it’s on the counter until next week, but it is a lovely summery pinky coral. (Can you tell I’m into coral yet?!)

The nail polish standing upright on top of the Dior is Lancome’s “Vernis in Love” Shade 112B (Rouge in Love). A funky little red that’s summer bright rather than anything to deep or classic. It’s £12 from Selfridges.com

YSL Volupte Sheer Candy, Shade 9 – a tinted lip balm that feels cooling on application, really watery and smooth. I adore these YSL balms and have been wearing this shade a lot. It’s a sweet candy pink but nothing too sickly as it’s so sheer. It just gives a cute little flush of pink. The packaging is immense – really heavy and OTT! £23.50 from HouseofFraser.co.uk

Givenchy Magic Balm – I have already posted a review of this little pot of wonders! You can read the review here.

Clinique Chubby Stick in 12, Oversized Orange. Everyone raves about the Chubby sticks. I do like them, but I resent being made to draw on my face with what looks like a crayon! There’s no ‘luxe’ factor for me, though I do think that the formulas are gorgeous. Really moisturising and a nice amount of tint – Oversized Orange is out next month and it will cost £16.

NARS Thakoon Polishes – a very arty collab between NARS and designer Thakoon, with inspiration for the shades coming from the spice markets of India. As I find myself saying a lot, recently, “these would look great with a bit of a tan”. I’m never sold on yellow, not for the nails, not unless it’s virtually neon, but this one is perhaps just bright enough to be OK! The polishes are £14 each from Selfridges.com

Body Shop Born Lippy Satsuma Shimmer Balm. Oh how I love this. You can find out why by reading the full review here.

M&S Limited Collection Lipstick in “Candy”. Marks have a new makeup range, the Limited Collection, and I think that “Candy” may be my favourite lipstick shade in the range. It’s really bright, but being the wallflower that I am (HA. HA. HA.) I decided to sheer it out a bit over my Givenchy magic balm. It looked great! £5 from MarksandSpencer.com

  1. Ruth this photo actually made me drool. Legitamately just drooled down myself! I’ve started youtubing too. I was totally inspired by you and my other fave youtubers :) my channel is thecameraliesbeauty if anyone is interested? x

  2. Ok, so we had a pretty crap summer in NZ this year, and it is now autumn, heading into winter, BUT I feel like it should be summer now looking at all these delights! Thanks Ruth.

  3. I love Philosophy shower gels. My favourite is Cinnamon Buns but I think I need this one to get me in the summer mood! x

  4. Hi Ruth,
These darlings have made my day!
I was going to email you but thought my chances of getting an answer here is higher :)
I’m a law student who has been scouted but I’m worried that one day when I lose my looks, I wouldn’t be able to pursue a law career because of my modeling career/publicity. What do you think? I know you get a ton of these modeling questions – sorry!

    • @Rebecca you’re right! I rarely get back to emails! OK. I left my law degree to be a model but I had NO INTENTION of being a lawyer. If law is what you want to do, then stick at it is my advice. It’s a really tough old game out there now, so I would have a tinker with modelling in your hols and see how you like it. You won’t miss out – believe me, if Chanel wanted to book you, you’d just take the week off uni! If, however, you did decide to do it full time and go back to law, I can’t imagine that it would have any detrimental effect having been a model. xxx

  5. What a pity, I was in the UK 10 days ago and didn’t throught to buy any Philosophy’s products.

  6. Ah! I am a HUGE fan of the Chubby Sticks (don’t mind that they look like crayon), and they never make orange colors, so excited for that!

Can’t wait for all the summer releases, love all the colors :)

    xx Renee

  7. Hi, Ruth! I LOVE this picture! Totally inspiring; makes me want to rummage through my own collection and rediscover all things bright & summery! OMG, I’ve been obsessed recently with the YSL Rouge Volupté Sheer Candy gloss sticks––my favs are Mouthwatering Berry (no.5) and Tangy Mandarin (which I think is no.10)––SO pretty. These gloss sticks are just an all-around thing of beauty. I personally think they are worth the exorbitant price tag. As you said, the packaging is luxe and heavy (in fact, I nearly lost grip of it the first time I went to apply)! I don’t think I’ve ever held such a bottom-heavy tube of lipstick before, hehe!

    • @Jennifer and they taste amazing! Not that I’m supposed to be eating them, but y’know… x

  8. After a horrible day at uni, reading your review on these products totally made my day! Thank you Ruth for your bubbly personality haha :D xx

  9. It totally makes me feel summery! xx

  10. Amazing products, I love the lipsticks from YSL, Lancôme and the chubby sticks! ♥

Ruth!!. I absolutely adore your taste in cosmetics and skincare in general. You’ve helped me a lot to take better care of my skin day after day and I really keep your suggestions and reviews in mind for whenever I want to acquire a new product. My latest “test” that came from one of your suggestions was the Chanel Beauté Initial cream which was absolutely gorgeous in texture and feel, and it really helped my skin. The only problem is that it seems that the production has been stopped and I cannot find it on any Chanel counter nearby… :(

I also have the Satsuma Shimmer Balm, but sometimes I find the strong taste a little bit annoying, though the formula is very hydrating, may I suggest that you try out one of MAC’s Tendertones?. They have such an incredible formula and an SPF of 12.

Loving the Volupté, I might as well go and grab one. What do you think of Tourquoise/Aqua shades for this upcoming summer?. I cannot choose between Dior’s Bikini and Saint Tropez. They’re beautiful!!

    Huggles!!

    • @Romina I love aqua shades! But I have enough of them from past seasons, I think – I can’t justify adding any more to the collection. Or can I? xx

  12. Thanks Ruth! It feels summery (despite this weather!)

I am attracted by the Lancome’s Rouge in Love lipstick, the Givenchy lipbaum and the Dior nail polish, it looks lovely.

I bought a chubby stick in cherry from Clinique a couple of months ago, and I have to say, despite the packaging, they really are moisturising and handy!

    Have a good day, xx
