Fashion Model I am at a total loss as to when these polaroids were taken! I absolutely love the outfit! It’s a shame that I’ve kind of shrunk that skirt – maybe I’ll dig it out and see if I can re-shape it. It’s weird though; I have a complete memory fail when it comes to these photographs. I was Googling myself to find a picture of my nose (don’t ask) and up came these – I thought hey-up, cheeky – what are you doing on my images page? And then I realised that it was, in fact, me.

These pics are from the polaroid page of one of my foreign agencies – MD Management in Germany. Have a little look if you like, I’ve linked below. It’s quite a slick portfolio, I like it a lot!

MD Management

(Don’t believe everything you read about my measurements, by the way. Wink-wink nudge-nudge. They are circa 2001!)

Shirt is from Abercrombie and Fitch. Shoes were from Dorothy Perkins, I think… Skirt was Whistles. Watch by Rolex. Little necklace was from Start London. Can’t remember what pants I had on, but if it comes back to me I’ll let you know. (Joke.)

I think, for these polaroids, I must have been told to look ladylike. Because usually I’m in jeans and a vest top. Maybe I should do a little post or video about what to wear for model polaroids – lots of people have asked and it’s easier to show rather than tell… I’ll add it to the list!

You look amazing in those pics!

  • Louise

You look incredible in the portfolio images! And love that skirt. x

  • http://www.mirror-reality.com/ Phil

You still look exactly the same, except for the haircolor & cut perhaps.
Are you secretly one of those people that never age, just show up in pictures throughout the ages, looking exactly the same? :)

    • Ruth

@Phil yes, although these must only be a year or so old. I can’t remember when they were taken but it’s not that long ago.. x

  • Meg

I had a skirt like that for uniform at Whistles but it would have been 2009 ish…I guess they recycle their designs! Also LOL at the ‘Brain’ measurement… so has your brain shrunk or expanded in that time?!

    • Ruth

@Meg eher is the brain measurement?!!!! How can I not see it-= that’s comedy gold, surely?

      • Meg

Ok, that would be Chrome auto-translating. Apparently Hips is German for Brain. Who knew?!

        • Ruth

@Meg oh that is just fantastic! Love it! x

  • Sophie

These are so lovely! Very elegant…
I’ve got a bit of a random question here. I’ve been saving up for a while to treat myself after my dreaded A-level exams and was just wondering which product you’d recommend more out of the Estée Lauder Pure Color Illuminating Powder Gelée
and the Chanel Soliel de Tan.
Thank you, hope you have a lovely weekend :)

    • Ruth

@Sophie they are VERY different! What do you want, a bronzer or a highlighter? x

      • Sophie

Probably a bronzer… Would the Chanel be a better option then? Thanks x

        • Ruth

@Sophie yes, most certainly. How fair/dark is your skintone? x

will check the others out, am not a stalker lol

  • Nurdan

Hi Ruth, I checked out your portfolio and I loved it! You look so cool with that wavy bob *_*

  • MariaBent

    Hi Ruth,
I’ve clicked on the link and watched your photos. My favourite is the face close-up with the brownish scarf over your hair. It’s obviously not the most glamorous one, but your expression has – I don’t know very well how to put it – a “depth” that makes this photo very impressive. One wonders what this woman is looking at, what she’s feeling, why there’s maybe a little twitch of sadness in her eyes…

Have a nice Saturday night everyone. x

  • flick

    very pretty in blue!

  • Julie

Gosh you are gorgeous! It’s amazing that you can still take an amazing picture with Polaroid! I’m taking this pic for my next appointment with my hairdresser. I have finally found THE haircut. Do you perhaps remember how did you cut it?

    • Ruth

@Julie it was a fringe that was growing out I think! And ends that hadn’t been cut for ages! x

      • Julie

oh lol XD i wonder how my hairdresser will cut my hair. it looks effortless and beautiful! je t’adore xoxo

        • Ruth

Let me know how it goes Julie! x

You’ve barely changed at all Ruth. Lovely photos, but then I think you’d be hard pressed not to look good photographed. Me, I’m about as unphotogenic as it’s possible to be.

And I tend to blame my closet for shrinking my clothes when I’m not looking. *mwah*

    Ali x

    • Ruth

      Thanks Ali! x

  • Erin

This is unbelievable! I know you said those measurements are from awhile back, but according to those you and I are the exact same height with the exact same measurements to the inch. Quite strange.

Your portfolio is beautiful, you look fantastic! I saw someone on Youtube say that “if your teeth were a little closer together you’d be stunning”, and I think she is completely ridiculous; I wouldn’t deny you’d be beautiful either way, but the gap in your teeth brings a character that not many women have. You are not beautiful IN SPITE of your gap, you and your gap are BOTH beautiful.

    • Ruth

      Thanks Erin! x

I have just been taken in by Models1 and I’m really excited but really nervous. They have asked me to come in for some test shots but I have no idea what to wear or what to do? I did child modelling but it’s obvious that I’m going to have to work a lot harder and know a lot more now I’m with models1! Also I have been trying to keep hold back when I go in for test shots because I have the general teenage problem of breakouts… do you have any tips on what could help or what would be a good cover up (even though they told me not to wear make up)Thank you so much!! Holly xx

Hey Holly, have a look at the teen skin video on my Youtube channel! x
