June Favourites Makeup Tutorial – Voiceover

A Model Recommends

Lots of people asked for a quick tutorial on the makeup look that I wore in the “June Monthly Favourites” video, and so here it is. Unfortunately, I did quite a hatchet job of my editing and so when I went to do the voiceover, it all got a little bit crazy! You’ll see what I mean when you watch it – time keeps running away from me!

Info, as per usual, beneath the video pane, but I want to make a few little notes too. Firstly, I think that the cosmetics brand MyFace must be pulling their products out of Boots stores. The range of products online seems greatly diminished and I have had reports of stores only having very few items on the stands, with those remaining selling at a huge discount. If you see any foundation or Blingtone eyeshadow at cut-down prices then I’d recommend snapping some up – a tube of the foundation at least. It really is brilliant!

The Murad Oil-Control moisturiser (SPF15) has had a bit of a feature-frenzy recently, here on A Model Recommends, and that’s because I have grown to quite like the gluey texture that then blends out into quite a lovely, light SPF. If you want to read the original review, you can do so here, or you can find it online at FeelUnique. It’s £33 at FeelUnique and £37, as far as I can tell, everywhere else!

Last little “aside” is about the Estée Lauder Bronze Sands palette. It’s a rather lovely limited edition for Summer 2012. Though for everyday use I still prefer my Extravagant Gold Palette (Holiday 2010 Limited Edition!) the shades in the Bronze Sands really make blue eyes very, very blue. So worth picking up if you’re looking for a shadow selection that will carry you through to autumn with a bit of glamour and sparkle. I can’t find it online, and it has been out a while so may have sold out in many places, but have a check in some of your local department stores on the off-chance!

  1. What is the number of the shade in dior nudetan bronzer. Thanks from a fan from Sweden.

    • Can’t look at the mo as on hols! Sure someone asked before though so if you type the name into the search box, all previous mentions should come up! I am sure it’s sunlight though? X

  2. Hi Ruth,
Just wondering if you know of any ‘dupes’ for the myface foundation? I bought the lightest shade on amazon as my boots had already stopped stocking it but it’s a bit dark for my pale skin :( but i love the formulation, is there anything similar you know of that also doesn’t have spf in it?
Thanks and good luck for the youtube votes :)

    • Hmmmm. No, it is really quite gorgeous isn’t it?! Light shades are always a problem, it seems. Have you tried the new YSL foundation? That has a similar-ish texture, but thinner… x

  3. Ok, I know that wasn’t meant to be funny, but I laughed so hard all the Twirl Bites I’d shoved in my mouth beforehand were in danger of falling out. Sorry, but that was flippin’ hilarious.
(oh, should probably say a bit about the tutorial as well – lovely!) xx

  4. Just found you upon recommendation from Pixiwoos. This was the first thing I saw, and it gave me quite a laugh. Thanks for that! Can’t wait to read the blog.

  5. Dear Ruth,
Quick question! What do you do to prevent foundation from attaching and clumping to little, otherwise invisible, hairs on the face? This seems to be my biggest problem and I don’t know if it’s the foundation or the peach fuzz.

    • Yeah, that’s an awkward one! I go easy around that area. I think that’s why people wax, even if it’s fair, but I can’t bring myself to do it! x

  6. Ruth you are a GAS woman! They should put you on the tellybox!

  7. I REALLY need to try this Murad Oil-Control SPF15. I’ve been buying all these different supposed oil-controlling moisturizers and NOTHING works!!!

  8. I just had the best time watching your video! You have to do more voice over videos! Love the look!
    xoxo Nancy

  9. Stunning!!!! I was wondering why you don’t use any mac products? You don’t really like them or..? If you do like them can you do a mac tutorial? Thanks!

    • They just use them ALL the time at work so they bore me to death! I will use some though, if the demand is great enough! x

  10. God this made me laugh! Great video to evade Monday blues. Lovely make-up!

  11. Honestly one of the best tutorial vids ever. I started giggling madly throughout and you’ve practically brightened up my Monday! Thanks Ruth, do more of these please! This and the one with with the inflight skincare are amazeballs.

  12. Hi whats the reference of the Bourgeois powder blush you used because you forgot to list it :) xxx

  13. Elizabeth Maiorana

My God, Ruth, you made my otherwise depressed too-hot Sunday night a hysterical laff riot with this video … many many thanks. You’re so funny, do you know it? xoxo Beth in Pgh ;-)

  14. OOT

    omg!!! looook

when is this going to arrive here??? Ruth investigate !!

  15. Stunning!!!! I was wondering why you don’t use any mac products? You don’t really like them or..? If you do like them can you do a mac tutorial? Thanks!

  16. going to have to try that mascara, keep hearing so much about it!

  17. “Bloody hell”! I actually giggled out loud at that point. Thank you, Ruth — that was funny AND instructive!

  18. How funny! but got the gist and you looked lovely x

  19. Oh my heavens this was hilarious! I was literally crying with laughter ! Xx
Really like the look, LOVE the EL compact, fabulous colours, haven’t tried the Omorovicza pencil, does a good job though, will be too dark for me though :-( sighs, never mind ! Xx

  20. Best voiceover EVER. You must do more voiceovers. That’s the second time you’ve made me laugh this week.

    • I agree, I really love your voiceover videos! I love that sunscreen, as well. That could work as a great primer in lieu of sunscreen for hotter climates.

  21. I lovethe voice pver, made me laugh so hard lol.

  22. Chrisina Covarrubias

    My god that was hilarious!

  23. Yes, it’s just a shame they seem to be coming out of Boots…nice to be able to try the shades before buying! x
