OK. I’ve been in Paris, so my Net-a-Porter obsession had to be curbed for a few days. To my dismay, when I got back last night, the Vivienne Westwood dress that I had stowed in my basket had sold out, as had the 5-pack of Hanky Panky knickers which are THE best pants in the world. Humph! That’s what happens when you dither!

Anyway, I’ve finally pressed the “confirm” button and I thought you might like to know what I went for. I have my eye on a couple of other things too, but I’ll see how the first lot pans out! I may need to do another eBay cull to pay my credit card…but I do think that I’ll get lots of use out of all of the things I’ve bought. I’ll give you an update once I’ve done a try-on.

1) Donna Karan Knitted Dress – down from £620 to £186. Plain Jane, but I love this style of dress. Perfect for the winter with black tights and my Belstaff boots, and it’s forgiving around the tummy, which is always a massive bonus! If there are any left, they’ll be HERE.

 2) Hanky Panky Set-of-Three Thongs. Usually I hate thongs, but these are soft, wide-banded and one-size-fits-all. Which means that if you’re on the smaller size they are amazingly comfy! The pack of five had sold out, so pack of three (hohoho) it was. Still, I bought a pair from Figleaves the other week and it was £18 for ONE! So these are great value. They are (if they haven’t sold out) HERE.

3) DVF Bikini. See last week’s post about bikini indecisions. I dallied about for ages – got the Marni one too but in a different shipment, have a feeling it will be going back!  DVF Bikini is HERE.

 4) J.Crew Swing Sweater, reduced from £150 to £45. I love this style of jumper – take a look at it on the model, it’s really chic! Couldn’t resist it for the autumn and winter – I’ll stow it away safely away from the moths! Some left HERE

 5) Contrast Tee by Zoe Karssen. Oh dear. I popped this into the basket ten seconds before I hit the “confirm” button, so it was definitely an impulse buy. I do like the sporty styling, but we shall see! It can always go back – as can the other items. OH THE JOYS OF SHOPPING!

Tell me what you’ve been buying – make me feel better! If you want to browse the remains of the sale: Net-a-Porter

Great picks as always, Ruth! My problem is, whenever I order something online that I end up hating, I always dilly-dally on the return process (SO much effort!) and then end up with, say, a pair of ill-fitting jeans that waste away in my closet (damn you Last Call Neiman Marcus and your 50% off Hudson jeans!!1)

    • Ruth

YES! That happens to me a lot too…. : (

        Same here!
They just love people like us, you know ;)

  • Alex

I ordered the 3 pack of Hanky Panky thongs too! Never tried them but have heard they’re great. Also got a Violet Lake bikini after I saw your post and saved myself €70 off the original price. Hoping it will make me into a bond girl bombshell haha. Thanks for the heads up Ruth! x

Hi Ruth, I love Hanky Panky, my favourites are the mid-rise (lace and cotton…Net-A-Porter had some left on their site when I checked) and the low rise. Love the DVF bikini and the DK dress. Enjoy your new purchases!

  • Lisa

So far from N-A-P I’ve bought a J Crew cashmere navy hoodie and a pair of green Burberry Brit pants/jeans which makes a change from my usual magpie tendencies to buy sparkley going out tops/dresses which get worn once if at all. Am trying to shop smarter this time round ;-) dilly-dallying over those Current/Elliot tuxedo leggings and a black quilted mini skirt from L’Agence…oh will I ? won’t I? will I? won’t I?!! Aghhhhhhhhh

    • Ruth

Oooooh! Do they still have the hoodie? I’m off to look! x

  • Rhonda

If you like the Hanky Panky, then definitely try the Lacie thong from Victorias Secret. Very similar in design (lace mainly and one size fits all) and they are nearly always on sale (3 for $33)

    • Ruth

Tried those! The quality of these ones is in a different league, though! The VS ones are thrush waiting to happen! x

      • http://Couldbecookies.blogspot.com Jane

I agree! Their quality has really gone downhill in recent years.

  • Ana

Oh definitely return the Marni bikini – it doesn’t come even close to the other two! Love the black dress!

  • Jamie

ha! that’s always what i think when online shopping…”oh, i can always return it!”

Hit the Barney New York sale and got a fabulous Dries Von Noten sweater for 75% off! Yippee! Packing for 4 weeks in Paris–are the temperatures as autumnal as they seem?

  • Mum

Love the black dress and jumper and the bikini well done xxxxxxxxx

Love the DVF bikini, fortunately it’s sold out in my size as I’ve already bought a Mulberry Bayswater in the NAP sale!

  • Carla

That J Crew knit is reduced to 23 quid now Ruth!

    • Ruth

      WHA? Oh FFS!!!!!!!

      • Carla

I would be cheeky and buy another at the cheaper price, and send the £45 one back!

That sweater actually looks so nice and comfy, and the bikini looks like a great choice!
