Bedside Beauty Snapshot: Tring, July 2012

This bedside beauty snapshot was taken at Champneys Tring. You’ll see some old favourites and a couple of new things – I’ll make it snappy and link to existing reviews for the products that I’ve mentioned before!

(From left to right. Ish.)

1) Tom Ford Gold Dust Bronzer – used in a video recently, stockist link is underneath the video.

2) Dior Hydralife Tinted Moisturiser – is gorgeous. It will be reviewed separately, but for now know that this has a beautiful texture and a healthy, glowy sheen. I love it. It’s £27.25 including delivery from Escentual.com – I use shade 1.

3) Alpha-H Liquid Gold – read the main review here. I swear by this stuff, just in case you’re a new reader!

4) Estée Lauder Idealist Primer – just thought I’d revisit this primer. I had forgotten what a lovely little product it was. Instantly smoothing, a brilliant base for foundations or tinted moisturisers and it does have some visible effect on pores, though not so much as a dedicated pore-refining primer. £54 for full size, from House of Fraser

5) Omorovicza Thermal Cleansing Balm – LOVE THIS. It’s not cheap, but it’s so, so lovely. Follow with their Deep Cleansing Mask for a simple but highly effective home facial.

6) Givenchy Kohl Liner – I’m on hols and naughtily didn’t finish this post properly, so will have to add link once home!

7) Dr Lewinn’s Renunail

8) Sisley Lip Balm

9) Chanel Limited Edition Nail Polish in Holiday – bright and funky red for the summer hols. £18 from Boots.com

10) Lancome nude polish – my favourite polish for the whole of this year – the best nude ever! See review and stockist here

11) Lancome Highlighting Blush – ultra pale, but gives the most flattering shimmering highlight wherever it’s brushed. Makes a softer alternative to the cream highlighter “snail trail” that adorns many a cheekbone these days! Not that there’s anything wrong with the cream highlighter (I adore them), they just need to be blended properly. This one is £27.50 with free delivery from FeelUnique.com. Mine is a pale, pale pink and in the image online it looks like a hot pink, but they have the same shade number, so…confused!

  1. I’ve noticed (hopefully not in a creepy way) that the Sisley lip balm has turned up in a lot of your bedside beauty snapshots. Do you prefer the Sisley lip balm to the By Terry Baume de Rose? I’m trying to decide between the two.

  2. Ruth darling off topic question, but was wondering – have you ever ordered anything from Beauty Bay and is it trustworthy site to order from?!

    Thank you x

  3. Hi Ruth, have you ever compared Alpha H Liquid Gold (5% glycolic acid, steeper in price) to Neostrata Oily Skin Solution(8% glycolic acid, cheaper than former)? xx

  4. can you please tell the exact shade of the lancome blush???pale pink doesnt exist…
    thank you!!!!!

  5. Oh you are trying the cleaning balm by Omorovicza ! I got a sample of it and I really like it ! I bought the mask because you recomended it and also got the gold body scrub at the same time. You should try it; it is amazing ! :) Thank you for introducing me to this brand !

    I second Yush!

  7. Great post! I love “spying” on what others have lying around on their night tables :)

The Sisley lip balm sounds absolutely wonderful and, I have to agree, Chanel Holiday polish is one of my favourites for summer!

  8. I love these posts. All your picks are always so lust-inducing!

  9. Whenever you post a bedside beauty snapshot, you should always end the post with a snapshot of Mr. AMR’s bedside table just for laughs (if he is on the trip too). It will be like a long-running inside joke for your loyal readers. ha!

  10. Hi Ruth : ) would love to know how you compare the Dior hydra with omorovicza bb cream and chantecaille just skin. I have the omorovicza and even though I love the coverage, it goes on a little patchy with my now dehydrated skin (I have been using the BR p50 maybe with too much enthusiasm.) I have never tried the chantecaille but Caroline h from beauty mouth really recommends it… Just wanted to know ur thoughts on how these 3 compare. Thank u bunches

    • OK< you’ll find the Dior softer and easier to apply than the Om. LOVE Chantecaille but haven’t tried in ages, so can’t do a proper comparison! x

  11. I would love to see the review on the Givenchy Kohl Liner before I get it. I am loving the YSL one, but want to try something new. Thanks.

  12. Hey Ruth!!! do you know good serum and a cleanser for oily skin and large pores???) thnks

  13. Hi ruth

I’ve just come across your blog and i love it !

Just wondering if you could help, im bored of my skin care regime/products. Please could you recommend your top 5 skin care products. Maybe a cleanser, scrub, moisturiser, serum/night cream or just whatever u love and cant live without.

    Many thanks
    Kirsty xxxx

  14. don’t you just love being surrounded by beautiful things??

  15. Hi Ruth! I’m really intrigued by Alpha-H products and AHA and I was wondering if I could ask you a question.
Basically, I have some acne (a couple of spots at a time all the time) but use 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide after cleansing in the morning to combat it which works very well. I used to use Peter Thomas Roth AHA/BHA scrub but it has been discontinued, and I found it made my skin amazing. Do you know whether or not it is safe to use both AHA/BHA and Benzoyl Peroxide alongside each other, and if so is there some sort of AHA treatment you could recommend? At the moment I cleanse at night and use pure jojoba oil as a night moisturiser, so perhaps an AHA treatment/serum before using oil?
    Sorry for the long question!

    • Hmm, let me look into this. I’m not up-to-speed with BP! Does it give any instructions on the packaging re other acids? x

      • Not sure, I was just asking in case you knew but thanks anyway! I’m sure I’ll find something about it. xx
