More Figs! Diptyque’s “Collection Voyage”

Posted · 4 Comments

A new “Fig-Scented” thing to add to the “Fig-Scented Things” category: the Philosykos range from beautiful luxury fragrance brand Diptyque. Most famous, perhaps, for their gorgeous candles and room sprays, Diptyque also have quite a broad range of scents and body products. I had no idea that Diptyque made body products! Anyway, it was a pleasant surprise to visit the store in Mayfair and discover that not only do they have their classic Fig scent (Figuier) but a fresher, lighter take called Philosykos. It’s still quite earthy and woody, but I think that it’s more wearable than the Figuier.

The “Collection Voyage” is a sweet little travel set – there’s a 75ml body lotion and shower gel, both wrapped up in a little cotton bag. The products are very generously scented, so you don’t really need to wear a fragrance over the top. Although it would be nice to layer over another scent, perhaps – maybe a Rose or Orange-Blossom. I shall experiment and get back to you!

The Diptyque store is on Brook Street, London W1, but if you want to buy online the set is £25 from John Lewis

philosykos: from the greek words “philos” = friend and “syko” = fig

I love Diptyque. Particular favourites of mine are Do Son and L’Ombre dans L’Eau. I tried out their new EDP formulations in Liberty last week and found that I really took to Philosykos. The EDT is far too sharp to me and the EDP really suits this fragrance. The amazing L’Ombre in its EDP form turned my stomach and became a bit of a scrubber (I could not have foreseen this. So weird!) and Do Son EDP is beautifully creamy and less sickly that its EDT counterpart. In short? I’d DEFINITELY recommend trying out the Philosykos EDP if you haven’t already.

I love this frangrance! I’ve just realised after reading this review that I’ve been calling it Philoskyos (Feelosskeeyoss!) for the last couple of years. Do’oh. Pixie do a nice little Fig fragrance, which comes in a perfume and an oil version, which is kind of similar but smells a lot like grass too! That makes it sound horrid but I like it!
