Natural Everyday Makeup On A Budget

It’s been a long while since I did a budget video. I was inspired to make this one because I have been judging products for the Zest Beauty Awards and there were some absolute gems from the high-street and budget brands. This is the first of two videos – the next one will cover haircare, skincare and bodycare.

Quite a few of the products that I’ve used are on sale at the moment, which makes them extra-bargainous; special mentions must go to the L’Oreal Telescopic Mascara, the Garnier BB Cream Oil-Free Version and the Tinted Lip Balm in Tigerlily. All brilliant, brilliant value for money – especially when reduced in price!

OK, enough chit-chat. I hope you like the Bourjois foundation; I’ll stick a proper review up soon, but I think you can see from the video what a light, glowy foundation it is. I think it’s excellent – it reminds me a little of the YSL Teint Touche Éclat in the way that it applies, though the finish isn’t quite as sophisticated.

  1. I picked up the “17 enraged” eye shadow today, the colours are lovely, especially the bronzy one – thanks for the recommendation.

  2. Hi Ruth, love your videos! Would love to see one about natural make up (as in products without any chemical nasties or toxins etc.). Have you ever tried any of the RMS Beauty products? Also, thanks to you I am now an Omorovicza devotee! Thanks, Linda.

  3. Hi Ruth,

Can you tell me what nail polish you are wearing? I love it. Thanks for the vid too…big fan of st tropez products…will look for the illuminator.

  4. wow, so pretty! I am going to get the Bourjois foundation tomorrow when I do some Bank Holiday shopping – did you also try the non-serum healthy mix? Did you find this one much better? I suspect that this one is gel and the other isn’t?

  5. Zest magazine now there’s a blast from the past, I wasn’t sure if they still printed it – I will be definitely buying it, especially as your involved with the beauty reviews and I feel I owe something to “Ruth Inc.” as I’ve picked up several great tips from visiting your site

Love the 17 eyeshadow and the avon bronze eyeliner looks great too.

Thanks Ruth – looking forward to the next video.

  6. Great video. Your eye make-up looks amazing. The L’Oreal Telescopic False Lash is on my to-buy list. I really like the original version but since False Lash came out I haven’t been able to find it anywhere. x

  7. Did you know that Bourjois & Chanel are owned by the same company? That’s why you might find the quality of some of the Bourjois products a bit more high end than other ‘high street’ brands. I’ve noticed that some of the colour & consistency of blushers & eyeshadows can be quite similar. I had heard that they are even made in the same factory (but don’t quote me on that part!) x

  8. Hi Ruth, thank you for posting this video, love the 17 eye shadow trio, will give it a try today. Could you please let me know what nail varnish you are wearing in this video? It’s so pretty. Many thanks, lixia xx

  9. Those are great, affordable picks! I recently picked up one of the Burts Bees tinted balms in Pink Blossom and I have been wearing it every day. It’s such a soft, pretty pink! And I’ve heard incredible things about the Real Techniques brushes but haven’t been able to make a stop of an Ulta yet–definitely on my list though!
