New Commenting System and “Mini Forums”

You may have noticed (hopefully it’s up and running by now!) that there’s a new commenting system here on A Model Recommends. It’s a lot more efficient and interactive than the old one and so I hope, once you’ve used it a couple of times, that you like it. Instead of having to leave a whole load of information every time you comment, after one initial login you can just type away and press send! If you’re on your iPhone or home computer and you’re already logged into Twitter or Facebook or your Google account then you don’t need to give any extra information at all. The Disqus system will just ask you (once) for permission to post from that account and away you go. If you don’t have Twitter, Facebook or Google you can comment via Disqus itself, it will ask you (once!) for your name and email (email won’t be displayed) and then it will remember you whenever you return to comment.

I am HOPING, fingers crossed, that this will provide a faster, more interactive way of commenting and chatting to one another. I will have a moderator, but the comments won’t be on approval so I guess that this relies on people not spamming or swearing. Spam is taken care of already, actually, but please don’t swear – I worry for the younger ears and eyes amongst us!

Disqus will make it easier to reply to one another rather than having to wait an age for me to approve everything, so in effect we can create little mini-forums on each post. The downside to this is that it may make me a little slower on the uptake in getting back to questions and it’s more likely that I’ll see a comment left on the most recent post rather than leaving one on a post way back, if that makes sense? If there are any teething problems, we’ll iron them out sharpish!

Let’s see how we get on. And…….GO!

Hi Ruth, I was just wondering if you could recommend me a moisturiser with SPF. I am in need of something hydrating but not greasy as have an oily T-zone and acne-prone skin. I live in Australia so I would prefer something that could be ordered online or is available here. Thanks so much for your help!

Anthelios from La Roche Posay is good, NIA24, the Clinique moisturisers with SPF I also find to be good on oily skin. The ones MEANT for oily skin, obvs! x

I am truly amazed at how many balls you juggle at once (working on Masters, blog, videos, cooking classes, modeling, travel, finding new things across the board) and can also keep from yourself from bubbling over with news of upcoming projects. Marvelous! Congrats (yet again) on so much. xx

Hey Ruth I was curious of your thoughts on the dr hauschka routine. More so on the whole not using a night cream because of interference with excreting natural toxins. I do not and would not solely use dr hauschka just to clarify. I know you talk to skin experts and founders of other brands… a penny for your thoughts. Also while I was doing some restocking I noticed you have a little shout out on omorovicza. A bit of an unexpected surprise

Oooh, really? On their website? I am not getting on with the routine so well, actually. I’ve packed it in, though I still use the cleanser. I’ll do an update post soon! x

Hi Ruth , I’m looking for some skin care help please! I had a skin peel last week which went wrong and has left me with blisters which now have turned into large scabs all over my cheeks. Have had some LED treatment to help with healing. When scabs have gone can you suggest some suitable products. Many thanks.

My God! That’s a lot of things on your skin in a week! Leave it well alone for a while and use gentle cleansers etc – Pai is brilliant for that. Heal Gel is amazing – type it into the search box and reviews will appear! xxx

Hi Ruth. Have you used Lancome Genifique Youth Activating Concentrate? I’ve been wanting to try this but would like to know your opinion before I pick it up.
