August Beauty Favourites

a model recommends

Fashionably late with these beauty favourites for August. It’s quite a random old selection, too, sorry about that! Some brilliant little bits and pieces though; I know I’ve mentioned the Garnier BB Cream before, but I have been using it loads so it deserved another mention. I have tried zillions of these BB Creams now and MUST do a video on them – I think that this Garnier one and the water-fuse version from Dr Jart are easily the best.

Newest obsession in AMR HQ is the liquid liner “flick”; I’m practising for an upcoming tutorial and I’ve tested out dozens of eyeliners! The best so far? It’s in the video! I still need to get the lengths of my eye-flicks right, which is quite difficult when your eyes are different sizes and one has excess liddage. Have we ever discussed droopy lids? It’s not droopy, so much as just a different shape and size to the other one. Only slightly, but it makes putting on eye-flicks a real pain in the proverbial!

OK, video time. Sit back, relax, let my voice wash over you… Daily Fix readers can click the link HERE if they can’t see the video pane.

I don’t know about Ruth, but I swear by the Alpha H Daily Essential Moisturiser SPF 50+. Think it comes in a 30 too….

YES, The Alpha-H is amazing, as Butterpuff says below. I also really like the Neal’s Yard Remedies rose one (SPF30) but it is VERY scented! x

Which foundation brush do you think would work best for older (groan) skin? Thanks.

Thanks Upa! I think that the Dior stipply brush would be best as it really produces quite a brilliant finish.. x

Well now you’ve just thrown a wrench into my wishlist works – I’ve been planning on treating myself to the Dior Healthy Glow bronzer in sunlight that looks so fabulous, but now the Clarins is looking awfully lovely too. Do you have a favorite between the two?

    Congratulations on your new gig!

I think the Dior, it has a little more colour to it, but the Clarins is beautiful as a “powder with tint”! x

I am French and soooo happy that Nuxe is coming to the UK! I really like this creme fraiche creme here. Long term I have really noticed a difference after using it.

Hey Ruth! I’ve been reading you ‘blog’ for a long long long time now and definitely have to congratulate you (was about time I did, shame on me!)
I had to comment on this one because you hit the spot when talking about applying eye-liner on eyes that have slightly different size or shape, that’s exactly my problem! I go through phases and get it right for a while but then I start getting it wrong again and there is no getting the hang of it until you just give up letting it bother you! It must be by doing it over and over again that you get it right, huh? I suppose you can’t really give me any tips on it since it must depend on each one’s eyes.. but thought I’d share my frustration with you and finally congratulate you for the good work!
    All the best! X

P.S.: Have you heard of an Indian hair oil called ”Amla Dabur”? I’m working here for a few months and someone recommended it, you leave it in over night and wash it out the next morning (you can also just leave it in for a few hours instead), once you’ve dried it it’s so shiny and strong!
