Lancome Advent Calendar – Ding Dong.

Oh yes please. An advent calendar stuffed full of perfectly formed Lancome miniatures? This beats the chocolate-filled versions hands down! What’s not to like? I particularly need/want/like the La Vie Est Belle miniature; it makes me grit my teeth with longing. Why do I have this ridiculous obsession with tiny samples of things? I still have that gigantic box full of them on top of my shelves – it’s so heavy that it’s making the wood sag! I must do a giveaway very, very soon. Stay tuned.

In the meantime, if you want your very own Lancome advent calendar you will have to be quick off the marks on the first of October – these will be on the Lancome website and at flagship counters priced at £70. For that you get 24 luxury minis (not the cars) including beautiful foundation, age-defying skincare and some makeup heroes. Ding dong.

  1. Also seen a few other advent calendars by other companies, latest in beauty have one in conjunction with you magazine, £60. And Ciate are doing one, which I saw on QVC about £32. Trying to resist…

  2. This is a fantastic idea. Why do other cosmetics companies not follow suit?

  3. Are you able to leave a link for the website with it since I’m having trouble finding it

  4. This is SUCH a cute idea. I used to LOVE the chocolate ones and now I can see myself becoming obsessed with the idea of a makeup one. I hope we’ll get this in the U.S!

  5. Ooooooohhhh I’m loving this! I love Lancome anyway (their Pro La Base is the BEST primer ever) I think I might just have to treat myself to this (as long as I manage to get one and they don’t sell out in seconds) x

  6. Ohmylordy, this is actually the most amazing thing I’ve seen in my entire life that combines makeup and holidays. Wow O_O

  7. This looks amazing! What a clever idea for those who love advent calendar but feel slightly too old for those chocolate kids’ ones!! I likie here! If this is a success, then I hope other brands roll it out soon, imagine brands like Dior, YSL, or Clinique doing them? Cadburys would go bust!!
As for doing a give away with your samples, I still stand by my original statement: I’ll name my first born after you (or maybe Mr Bear, depending on the sex of my future child), so there is no reason NOT TO PICK ME! LOL, just kidding!!
I love samples too, I ordered a couple of things from Etat Pur and I got this wonderful Rich Nourishing Cream which I really like- the texture is so balmy and it deals with my dry patches pretty well. Without samples I don’t know how else consumers can know more about different products, shame that nowadays we have to either spike the SA’s drink or spend a bucket load of money on products before getting those little free tubes for us to try!

  8. Off topic: “everyone” says (read “nags”) me that I should ask you what kind of computer you use, so I’m taking the plunge – to stop irritating friends and family! I was looking at the MacBook Air Pro. Any suggestions from you, Ruth, or anyone else? Whatever I get needs to be compatible with Blogger and easy to use because I am so not technology able, missing that particular gene. Thanks to any suggestions!

  9. How unfair that it doesn’t appear to be available in the States! Grrrrrr!

  10. Ugh, sure we won’t get this in Germany:( But good for my budget. I would later buy fullsize products (nasty me:) ).xxx Anna

  11. No way? That is geeeenius, what an inspired idea! Terrified that Xmas talk’s already kicked of when my mind’s still coping with the fact we had such a stingy summer, but if it involves Lancome tartware to help me grapple with the notion, that’s not too bad a place to start : )

I use their foundation, I actually blend two myself in a wee Lush pot so it matches throughout the year, as I tan in summer. That’s the only drawback I can see to this calendar, as we don’t come in a one size fits all category as customers. Unless they think to brand them in ‘Fair’ ‘Medium’ ‘Dark’ which is what I would do, to keep my customers happy and give them a chance of sampling products that actually suited.
But I love the idea of the calendar : ) This is so cool! Can see other beauty brands being cheesed off they didn’t think of it first. Great spot, Ruth! xx

    • Yes, that’s actually a VERY good point, I didn’t think of that! I suppose at least it’s only one of the products.. x

  12. Are these usually UK specific or do they make it over to the States? How many have come out over the years?

  13. I absolutely love the idea of a beauty advent calendar but I’m a bit concerned that the foundation/base products wouldn’t suit my skintone… :S

  14. That is just the coolest idea ever! I love Advent calendars and am always sad that they’re no longer as popular as when I was growing up. But this is way better than the ones of my childhood and my kids’ childhoods! And as a chocoholic, that’s saying a lot! ;)

  15. I’d love one of those, only problem is I was one of those greedy kids who opened all the little doors before christmas… Temptation would almost certainly get the better of me with this!

  16. oooh this looks great! hmm, and this might just be the push I needed to bring a visit to London soon, ha ha! x

  17. Do you have any more information on that? I couldn´t find any on the Lancome page/the web :-(. The 2011 calendar was exclusive to Selfridges as far as I remember…..#want

  18. Lovely!! But a bit tricky for me as well; since i’m very soon convinced that i need the product to have..
