Lanolips Golden Ointment Tin

Beauty Review and Tips

A little tin of absolute beauty. For those who dislike the pots of Vaseline (or petroleum jelly in general) Lanolips’ Golden Ointment version is an absolute dream. I’d actually opt for Lanolin over petroleum jelly on any day of the week, no contest – I feel as though Vaseline just sits there, inert, and doesn’t actually do very much in the longterm. The effects of lanolin feel more longlasting and….I dunno….active? I’ve talked about lanolin-based products before – Dr Lipp’s balm (retro post here) and Lanolips in a tube – they are brilliant for forming a kind of waterproof seal over the skin. Great for chapped or very dry skin – knees, cuticles, lips. (Be careful using it around your face if you suffer from breakouts.)

Lanolips’ Golden Ointment contains Manuka Honey as well as over 60% medical-grade lanolin – if you want an even purer hit of lanolin, opt for the 101 Ointment. There’s no real benefit that I can see from putting the Lanolips in a tin, but it looks pretty and I know that people love their tins of stuff! Personally I prefer a tube, and if you do too you can find that version here. If you want a pretty, vintagey tin (would make a nifty little stocking-filler, would it not?) then you can find that at Victoria Health

I’ve had Lanolips in the tube and while it’s pricey, it is really nice. Have you tried their hand products yet Ruth? Their good too.

Aw, it was a search for lip balm that led me to your site in the first place via your Dr Lipp post – never looked back since – from neither you or Dr Lipp!

There’s that cursed “C” word again, but given how much of a help that would be with C when it finally arrives, I suppose you really and truly looking out for our own good. And agree with you: about those who love their tin: I’m one of THEM. :)

I must thank you for recommending lip products with lanolin, I’m about to finish my Nip+Fab one (think they have discontinued it, I can’t find it on their website or in Boots…) and purchased the Dr Lipp balm from Space NK last week, can’t wait to use it because I know that this uber thick substance will save my lips time and time again! Thank you, Ruth! I too prefer lip products that either comes in a bullet or a tube, I just find that tins can be really unhygienic and just serves as a playground for those horrible winter bugs :/

Ugh me and my lanolin allergy! Would this be comparable to Nuxe’s Reve du Ciel? I have my eyes set on it :).
