Christmas Fragrance Gift Guide

Ruth Crilly Model Beauty Blogger

If there’s just one of my videos that you decide to click “play” on, then do make it this one. It has magical shrinking perfumes, sound effects and fake snow and everything. (If it was a project for GCSE Film Studies (or similar) then it would definitely get…a C or above.) It’s actually supposed to be a Christmas Gift Guide for fragrance-buying, but the most frequently asked question thus far has been: “OH MY GOD WHERE DID YOU GET THOSE GIANT BOTTLES?” (Answer: they are on loan. I’m hoping that the kind lenders might forget about them so that I can always have them in my backgrounds, but I get the feeling that’s not going to happen. Do you know how much those display perfumes cost? Loads! Hundreds and hundreds! One of my Youtube followers found a giant Chanel No5 bottle like the one in the Covent Garden pop-up store for sale and it was $3000!)

Giant bottles aside, I do hope you like this video. The bespoke perfumery idea is a nice one, I think – if you’d like a more detailed review on the Floris service then please click here to open my post in a new window. Purse sprays, body lotions, “deodorant” versions of fragrance are all rather lovely if you want to buy something matching – I buy a Coco Mademoiselle deodorant pretty much every time I’m in Duty Free! If you’re hoping to receive something nice from your beau this year then feel free to forward the link to this page – cheeky, but worth it. See also my post on Chanel’s pop-up store with complimentary gift-wrapping – it really is the icing on the cake for me. No man or woman could go wrong with that kind of gift!

Right. Brace yourselves for an adventure in Ruth’s Fragrance Wonderland – are you ready? Hit play!

Ruth, in your video you say Jo Malone have brung back Velvet Rose & Oud as part of their permanent collection, but on their site it says limited edition still. Do you know what’s going on? Is it really just a limited re-release?

Very hard to choose a fragrance for someone else unless you know them.. and even then, its easier to stick with what base notes they like.. Can you imagine any of us choosing your next new fragrance and getting it right? Also into consideration is MR AMR, if it smell gives him a headache it would definately be a no, no

Great selection of fragrances to mysteriously appear in hub’s email, thank you very much! I absolutely love the rollerball fragrance route – best idea since sliced bread.
    Wonderful decorations, Ruth.

I loved this video! I generally skip over videos or blog posts about perfume as I’d rather make up my own mind than read paragraph upon paragraph about their opinion on a smell. BUT. This video was well worth a watch, if only for all your hard work and the special effects that put a smile on my face! :)

Finally decided to take the plunge and ordered a very reasonably priced travel refill of Escentric Molecules Molecule 1 from Cult Beauty. Slightly worried it won’t be ‘smellable’ on me, but trying to find a new perfume is so difficult that an adaptable one seems easy! Damn you Fresh for discontinuing my fave perfume ever – check Fresh out for Jasmine, Fig and Rose scents though
