Oh Dear: Green Tea and the ASOS Sale.

Posted · 18 Comments

Just a little cathartic post about drinking Green Tea and then going online. It seems (and I have now done pretty extensive research upon my own person) that if one drinks Green Tea and then fires up the computer, the chances of spending lots of money are increased by around 1,287,997%. The ASOS shoe sale (50% off) has been on since yesterday, yet when I looked last night I couldn’t particularly find anything I wanted. Fast forward to this morning and I have a basket total of £596. I managed to wheedle this down to £220-ish before rashly pressing the “Confirm” button and paying via Paypal. Oh dear.

The good thing is, I suppose, that it can all go back if I don’t like it. And I am quite good at sending things back because I have the Premier service. When the people actually deign to stop by and pick up my parcels, it’s all a cinch! I can order stuff and return what I don’t like all in the space of about four working days. Thank goodness.

OK…here’s what I’ve just bought. Remember – it can all go back!

Chinese Laundry heels red soles

1) Chinese Laundry Studded Sandals – I like these because they’re a little bit rock ‘n roll with the studs, but the shape is quite elegant. They have a platform, so look moderately comfortable, but it’s not one of those OTT hooker-style platforms. I’m hoping that these will look chic-yet-edgy, but you can never tell until they’re on the foot! These were £98 down from £169, the page is here

 2) French Sole pumps. Classic ballet pumps and a good little investment. I actually love my ones from Office, but these are a little more delicate in style. They are £57 down from £95 here.

3) Carvela Pumps – just a little bit of fun, really. They’re not leather (I usually only buy shoes made from leather or a natural material, not man-made) but they’re an inexpensive bit of glitter and sparkle for Christmas. My Christmas Day shoes. (No I shall not be going outside on Christmas Day, and if I do then I’ll put my wellies on!) These pumps were £25 down from £60 here.

carvela sandals asos sale 4) More glitter from Carvela – the Lucy sandals. I love the black trim around the glitter, it feels very retro. The sole looks a little cheap, though, against the sparkle of the glitter (why do they not use black ever? Is there a reason for that?!) so these might be going back. Time will only tell! These are £48 down from £120 here.

I have been on a shoe splurge recently which is soooooo unlike me? What is up with me? Wearing dresses and skirts to work (it used to be trousers all the time?) and only wear trousers/jeans/leggings on dress down or going shopping! Lol! Anyway getting back (lol) I have bought a pair of Carvela shoe boots, Jaeger shoe boots, Jaeger sequinned pumps (very bling but classy) and a pair of……..miu miu shoes (they look like princess shoes and very bling and have a Indian tone to the bling as my friend pointed out and told me they looked very lush and yummy! Lol) I also bought a couple of pairs of Pied a Terre (they are sooo comfy) My mum said to me “Do you really need them?” Too which I replied “Well i’m wearing and buying a lot more dresses and skirts now I have to wear shoes that go with what i’m wearing” Lol! That is my excuse and i’m sticking to it! I have been good in the last couple of weeks (those mentioned were all bought in November) but seeing these has made my mouth water! I am being good at the moment but I know intrigue will get to me and I will be tempted to check out this site so this time Ruth I can blame you! Lol! (One day I will get the ultimate shoes which are Jimmy Choo or Louboutin but NOT too high as I am a clutz as it is anyway so will have to be 3.5″ or less! Lol) xxx

Oh Ruth glad I’m not the only one splurging on shoes these days. Though now I’m not sure if I have to remind you of the Outnet sale…? You should check it out, and as you said: it can all go back ;-) – not that it will haha! xx

Hi Ruth, just came across your blog looking for organic cosmetics reviews. I like your unpretentious style and the blog is great. I will be visiting often, take care :)

Love those ballet slippers. I think you can get any mood with them – glitter, sparkles or elegance – since everyone seems to have their own take. A good time for them. I dread them ever going out of style.
