Laura Mercier Deluxe Travel Brush Collection

I’m often a little wary of travel brushes; some of the applicators in the mini sets are fiddly and too small to be of any real use. Not so, thankfully, with the Laura Mercier brushes in her Deluxe Travel Brush Collection. The quality is just perfect and really, the only way in which these differ from the standard full-size is that they are double-ended: half the handles, twice the fun!

In this deluxe collection, brushes with similar or complementary functions have been paired up and forced to share a handle which, in my view, is no bad thing. I get annoyed when I have to rummage for the right tool for the job, so I quite like the fact that here my precise eyeliner brush is accompanied by a smudger and that my eye-crease brush has a chunky, “all-over” shadow brush at the opposite end of the stick.

There’s an eyebrow duo, too, and a brush for cream concealer and for concealer powder (designed to be used with Mercier’s Secret Camouflage) and there’s also a full-size cheek colour brush. Total value, if you disregard the sticks that have been done away with? Well, the cheek colour brush and the double-ended shadow brush is worth around £90 already, and I can’t be bothered to tot up the rest! Hundreds of pounds, at any rate. Feel free to work it out for yourself on SpaceNK if you have a pressing need to finish the job!

The deluxe brush set costs £67, comes with a very lovely case (hard) with a handy detachable inner pouch (mesh and magnet) and would be a brilliant introduction to the world of top-quality makeup brushes. If you’re still on the hunt for that elusive gift for someone special (ie, yourself) then this could well be it! It’s limited edition for the Christmas period but you can get the full-sized versions of these brushes all year round.

  1. This is half price on the Harrods website so I splashed out – even more of a bargain at £33.50! Had my eye on this since it came out, so excited I found it in the sale!

  2. Excellent! My boyfriend told me his mom wanted a travel brush set for Christmas and I’ve been trying to decide which one to get.

  3. I have this travel brush set!! I lovely birthday pressie off my mum. The brushes are great quality and perfect for those that frequently travel. The Blush brush is SO soft. The only one I am not so keen on is the smudge brush – it feels a little rough compared to my MAC smudge brush – which I love. I am hoping after a few cleans it might soften the hairs a little. Apart from that – super duper brush set, and the case is ace, you can fit load of other brushes in and perfect for eyeliners too. So pleased you reviewed this set Ruth, as when I purchased it I couldn’t find any reviews and was dubious to the quality of the brushes – but they are excellent!!

  4. I have a few of the mini Laura Mercier brushes that came in a set I bought last xmas. They are by far my favourite, and I’d highly recommend these for anyone who uses brushes daily, as they clean perfectly and they feel divine on your skin (the fluffy eyeshadow brush is the best of it’s type I’ve ever used). Just thought I’d chip in, as I’ve really noticed these brushes don’t shed, and they feel generous and well made.

  5. I absolutely love my LM brushes but then I’m a brush nut. I always carry a couple of the travel-sized ones in my “essentials kit’ in my bag. Wonderful! I tried get a very similar kit in the US a couple of months ago but they were sold out! ;(

  6. Perfect solution for travelling light! Thanks

  7. Oh I’m definitely going to see whether I can get these shipped internationally. Missed the sets of last year and the year before already. Is it me, or are their holiday brush collections getting better each year? :-) x

  8. Hiya! I was looking at these and the smaller set. Do you know what hair they use? X

    • I can’t be sure with these, I’m sorry, but I’m sure that one of my full size is goat hair. Anyone else know? x
