Burberry Lusting and the Wonders of Technology…

burberry ss14 double cashmere coat

Earlier this week it was Burberry Beauty, today it’s Burberry Style. I’m sorry, I just couldn’t resist. It’s partly the fault of DisneyRollerGirl who posted about her favourite SS14 looks and reminded me of the fact that they were all available to pre-order right this minute. I mustn’t even go there – the double cashmere trench in grey is calling to me like no other coat has called before – but if you fancy a spot of very indulgent and very long-sighted spring-summer-2014 shopping then go and have a browse.

On a completely different note, I was very impressed with Burberry’s collaboration with Apple during fashion week. They used the iPhone 5s to record and share the show; even the big sweeping overhead shots were taken on the iPhone – three of them, actually – and all of the backstage Beauty Booth pictures. It kind of makes me want to take my hugely expensive DSLR camera back to Jessops. I exaggerate, of course – the quality is incomparable – but still, it’s amazing what a handheld device can do these days. I find the iPhone a little shaky to record film on – the videographers at Burberry had theirs held steady in camera rigs and so on – but for catching moments “on the go” you can’t beat it, really. Has anyone bought the new iPhone yet? I’m considering it but waiting for feedback before I take the plunge!

I cannot really agree with that claim about the iPhone Ruth. I think that Samsung Galaxy S4 has a far superior camera. I am over the entire Apple hype really. They have stopped being innovative ever since Steve Jobs passed away. Now they are plain funny. That fingerprint thing is so old and laptops had that feature years ago. Nothing new, just gimmicky.

Thank goodness that someone agrees :)
I was starting to think that I was surrounded with hipsters exclusively:)) Really, aside from the flashy brand name, nothing really justifies the hefty price tag anymore. iPhone still has a wonderful build but S5 should respond to that as well (I have a tech geek of a husband, so he lets me in on all the details) :)

Love my iPhone but am considering the Samsung Note because I want a bigger screen. I think Apple has missed a trick there. Too much form not enough function.

Apple rules any day of the year or I’d say century! I was a proud Apple user before I switched to Android and have been repenting since then. Android devices do look enticing but nothing beats the simplicity and common sense of Apple. I guess that is what technology should do, Make it simple for the users :)

Thanks Ruth, I know, I’m SOOO tempted by those coats. Argggh! Interesting comments on Samsung v iPhone. I use my Blackberry for the phone, emails and Twitter, and the iPhone for Instagram and the internet. But I’m obsessed with the Samsung Note cos I love the wee stylus that comes with it! And I know Shini Park and Kit Lee use Sansungs and their photo are always amazing. (Even though I know a good photo isn’t necessarily about the tools used…) Have you seen the new Nokia? Its camera has some very cool features but I think you need photo knowledge to use them :(
