The Look Book Video…

daily mix lookbook

Just in case you were wondering what I’ve been up to in Dubai: I’ve been here with Daily Mix TV making special vids for their Youtube channel.

I especially enjoyed creating the Look Book video – I didn’t even know these things existed. It’s basically a kind of moving fashion shoot and I’ll definitely be filming some of my own once Christmas is out of the way. I’ve had plenty of practice when it comes to fashion shoots! The best thing about it was that I pulled out loads of stuff from my wardrobe that I had previously been dubious about wearing – the white mesh Alexander Wang top, for example, and the glittery Jimmy Choo sandals.

Do you watch “Look Book” videos? Are they something you find useful or enjoy perusing online? What makes a good Look Book? Votes and pointers, please.

Click here if you need Christmas Shopping ideas – completely unrelated, I know, but I feel as though I haven’t really made a fuss over my Christmas posts and they took bloody AGES to do!

  1. Talisa Lauren Tossell

I like lookbooks! My favourite lookbooks are based on celebs!

  2. Be brave sweetie, it’s the wilder, extreme pieces that end up the keepers, making appearances over decades. Buy and wear what your heart loves xxx

  3. Must be great fun to be in Dubai at this time of the year! :D Enjoy and can’t wait for the final video!!

  4. Loved the video Ruth. All you girls looked stunning :)

  5. Look Book videos are a great idea. Personally speaking, I would love tips and tricks on putting clothes together, rather than what to go out and buy. Have plenty of clothes, just need fresh ideas on how to wear them.

  6. I love lookbook videos, especially when they show you several different ways to wear the same old tired thing. My favorite lookbook youtuber would have to be Wendy’s lookbook.

  7. Would love to see some lookbook videos from you Ruth. I agree with justtracy, check out Wendy’s lookbook YouTube channel for inspiration – she is amazing!

  8. I love look books! I especially enjoy them when the author/creator records a VoiceOver and explains why they paired the outfit the way they did. I learn so much that way. I enjoyed watching the DailyMix Lookbook! As JustTracy and Lisa mention in their comment, I like Wendy’s look books too!

  9. Ruth, I had never heard of those look book videos you say but I´m looking forward to watching the Daily Mix´s. xo

  10. Looking forward to watching the look book, who put it together?

    Cornelia – Ineffable Beauty

  11. You looked great as always but I think you didn’t fit in with the group. You are far classier and far more interesting than those people whose phenomenon I’ll never understand. Anyhow, I am glad you had a good holiday but I would like to unsee those Dubai videos. Never again DailyMix and looking forward to seeing your videos!

  12. can you share where i can get this hat? love it. Most of the wide rim hats i find are too big. This one seems perfect.. I hate it when the front falls down. Thanks!

  13. I love love love Evelina Barry! http://www.youtube.com/user/Evelinicutza

She really puts a lot of effort into her look books and always comes up with something new.

Some examples: One of her more simple ones: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5erqtI2TCsI

    A “moving transformation” one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_FLsxxXWHA

    A “5 outfits, 10 locations” one, I love this one particularly: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQkU1A_Q21U

Just browse trough her channel, you will find loads of great videos!

  14. Ruth, I’ve watched this video at least 30 times. Seriously, you are the epitome of class.
