Beauty Products for Dry Winter Skin

ruth crilly a model recommends beauty blog

Starting off the new week with a skincare video; here’s a roundup of the beauty products I’ve been slathering on my face in an attempt to beat the dreaded “winter dryness”. I think my horrifically dry and tight skin has been more down to being ill rather than the weather, because until very recently it hasn’t been too cold at all, but the symptoms have been much the same. A stretched, flaky forehead, general dehydration and sensitive, red skin around my nose and on my chin.

Read about more products for dry skin…

There’s a good mix of different brands and budgets here – completely by fluke, I should say! – also the Darphin cream (reviewed last week here) is still reduced and the Olay serum is a third of its usual price*. All of the product links are below the video pane, so – as always – if you can’t bear the sound of my voice and don’t want to see a cute baby scoop about eighty-thousand pounds worth of face cream out of a pot with her chubster hands then please feel free to scroll on down.

Right you are, let’s get on with the show, shall we? I must get around to reviewing a lot of these dry skin products separately, so make sure you give me a nudge in the comments if there’s something you specifically want to hear more about. Enjoy…

NB: I’m not recommending the micellar as a cleanser for dry skin, it’s just something I’ve been using as I’ve been ill!

*I previously thought that the Zelens cream was reduced but it was cheaper at full RRP at SpaceNK – apologies for any inconvenience there!

Hi Ruth, so happy to have you back! I was wondering what had happened? I am dealing with the cold also. I would like to recommend Kate Somerville’s goat milk moisturizer and see what you think? Also, Kiehl’s midnight recovery serum. It has been loved by bloggers and models also. I am curious! Thanks. Xo

I allways love your video’s, specially the ones with Angelica in the background, it’s very funny to hear her ‘talking’ ;-)
Hope you feel 100% again soon!

Thanks for the tip about the Olay serum being on sale! I go between that one and ANR, so I will stock up a bit.

My skin has stayed pretty oily throughout the last month, due to the pregnancy hormones, but now the temperature in Germany has significantly dropped and the heating had to go up (it finally feels and looks like winter!), so this may be about to change.

Love your little helper!! I have developed rosacea and it’s horrible!! Interested in the fizzy wash – especially as it’s gentle – might be an option for me xx

I definitely need to go and pick up some of these! My skin has just been horrible, dry and flaky. I have nearly ran out of my current serum and the Olay Regenerist Firming Serum is a steal right now! How lucky haha

I’m totally BLOWN AWAY! I have recently found the best thing for my dehydrated super flaky skin: Eucerin replenishing face cream with 5% urea. Who knew?! Incredibly hydrating as it contains urea and lactate which holds in moisture. It’s not heavy at all and you need very little for instant mega hydration AND it’s amazing under foundation. I have used everything from thick heavy balms, hydraluron, oils, and masks but this cream is just everything you need in 1 product and it’s so affordable! I’ve also been using their spf (physical + chemical) and it works really well under foundation too. Give it a try Ruth! Cheers! xx

I have the same little tube from Caudalie, mine was from a set of 3 masks. I’ve only tried the moisturizing one. I got a bad burn from a product and then we had a small fire in the house and my skin has been WRECKED! I’ve been using that putting it on after lunch and taking it off with a tepid rinse at bedtime. It’s amazing. My skin absorbs it all over the day and it’s comfortable to leave on. It really helped me in my time of need. I love the Fresh masks too but they aren’t quite as good for irritated compromised skin as they have a lot of active botanicals which can feel very stingy when your skin is raw. I haven’t used a ton of hydrating masks in my day but I can see the quality of the Caudalie plainly. I’ll probably get a full tube and use it as my after sun mask!

I recently got a free sample of SISLEŸA L’INTÉGRAL ANTI-AGE, and fell in love with it! Unfortunately the £285 price tag is way out my price range :-(

Can you recommend anything similar but more affordable?! Shea butter is one of the first ingredients listed, so I thought the l’occitane shea ultra rich comforting cream might be worth a try? Thanks! x
