The White Company Skincare: Minimalist Meets Deciem

white company x deciem skincare review

I mentioned the (really quite excellent) cleanser from this new range in my January Favourites video, but the entire Advanced Skincare Collection from The White Company deserves a proper shout-out here on the website. It’s very good indeed.

In true “White Company” style, the range is minimalist and clean-looking, luxury but fuss-free. I remember saving up for my first proper bedsheets from The White Company when Mr AMR and I bought our first house – I couldn’t believe that sheets could cost so much, but when I slipped between the crisp linen layers I instantly understood what all of the hullabaloo was about.

I’ve digressed, but I suppose I’m trying to drive home the whole “simple quality” aesthetic for those who don’t know the brand – white sheets edged in pale grey ribbon, neutral cashmere loungewear, chunky knit throws that are straight from a well-curated Instagram page… The new skincare range is totally “on brand” – a capsule collection of suit-all essentials that keep things simple but in a pleasingly luxurious way.

Take the Super Balm, for example: a lightweight cream cleanser that feels almost fresh to apply but that turns into a beautiful oil as you massage it into the skin. Or the Advanced Hydration moisturiser, which really boosts the skins’ comfort levels, banishing dryness and tightness, yet doesn’t feel at all greasy. It borders on magical when layered on over the Super Serum.

And it’s no surprise that each and every one of the products I’ve tried from the range (cleanser, serum, face oil, moisturiser and eye cream) has impressed me, because the formulators behind the range are none other than boundary-pushing beauty brand DECIEM, makers of “niod” and “Hylamide” and, most recently, the incredibly affordable “Ordinary” serums. Quite a collaboration – these aren’t brands you’d necessarily put hand-in-hand, but if you wanted someone to sit up and take your skincare range seriously then DECIEM would be the people you’d use.

But the partnership works. I’m continuously confused by DECIEM’s ranges and what the various products do (despite there being dozens and dozens of absolute gems) but here, they channel their immense expertise and knowledge of high-performance ingredients into a capsule collection so simple and pared back you can’t fail to love it. Of course, many people want more targeted, customised skincare and so avoid the “one size fits all” approach, but those who have absolutely no clue where to start, or simply want products that work, with minimal fuss and discussion about skin “needs” and “concerns”, will be overjoyed.

I’ll get back to you with some individual reviews, but for now if you fancy taking a look at The White Company’s Advanced Skincare Collection then it is here on their website. Prices start at £20 for the eye cream and £25 for the cleansing balm. My top picks would be the cleanser and the moisturiser – ooh, and the night oil! And the serum.

I like the design and I do enjoy no-fuss products as much as targeted ones. It all comes down to my mood and level of tiredness.

I love White Company bedding, it washes brilliantly, lasts forever (my oldest set must be 12 years old but looks as good as new!) and feels amazing against your skin.

I’m looking forward to trying this skincare range. The packaging on the cleanser looks like you could take a pair of scissors to it which is always a bonus! Must say I’ve been mighty impressed with the serums I’ve used so far from The Ordinary.

Huge congrats on your new arrival Ruth and good luck finding a name! We took weeks naming our son, even our health visitor was freaking out as we were getting close to the cut off date (I’ve always wondered what they do if you don’t register the birth on time).

I saw these products in-store the other day and thought they looked interesting, but after reading this you’ve made me want to go out and buy the whole collection! It’d be great if they’d do a skincare travel set so that people can try everything out together x

Congratulations, Ruth, on the new baby boy! He is gorgeous and glad you are through the C-Section.
Thank you for the review on this new line, I have been interested to see your thoughts. The White Company ships to the USA and I can attest to the wonderful linens they produce. I also have the white with grey, along with the duvet cover and euro shams. Super soft and bright white — yes, they are a bit pricey, but the older I get, the more I realize you get what you pay for! This can be applied to shoes, handbags, cars…and more times than not — wine! Thanks for the review and enjoy your newborn and toddler, for they don’t stay that way long! -karin

First congratulations! AMR Baby Boy looks so sweet. So happy for you all.

Thank you so much for the heads up on this little collection. I have been using products from The Ordinary for some time now and I’m really pleased with the brand. I decided to try the eye creme and the hand lotion. When I start to get out of cleansers, I will give this one a try.

I’ve been quite interested in this! I love Deciem – they’re from my city and I pop into their store all the time. The salespeople are so nice and knowledgeable and I’ve truly never had a dud product from them. Good to know this collab works.

I love this collection too. I purchased as soon as I saw the announcement by Deciem and have had the same reaction as you. A really lovely, simple routine at a very reasonable price. The serum and face oil are excellent….also the cleanser…..and the moisturiser!

I asked the company for an ingredients list and they wouldn’t tell me. So far, not impressed. Best of luck with New Baby!

    Hi Ruth,
Thanks for this great review! I haven’t tried Deciem but now I’m so excited to try their moisturizer and serum. Congratulations on your new baby!

    Hello Ruth,

The design was luxurious and I bet the effect too, can’t wait to try. I want DECIEM’s product to be a part of my skin care and beauty regime. Thank you for sharing.
