Alpha-H Vitamin Collection: Easy Bespoke Skincare

Alpha-H Vitamin Profiling Collection Review

I’m so impressed with Alpha-H’s latest launch – I think that it really taps into the trend for bespoke skincare, but in a way that’s simple and easy to understand. The Vitamin Profiling Collectionis a set of four potent serums, each featuring a different beauty-boosting vitamin and addressing a different set of skincare  concerns.

Three of the vitamin serums in the set were available already – A, C and E – but the Profiling Collection brings them together with a new addition, the amazing Vitamin Bserum, and presents them all at a price that’s less than half of what they cost singly. (The full-size Vit B costs £58.50 for 50ml, the Collection is £49.99 for a total of 100ml – 4 x 25ml.)

Alpha-H Vitamin Profiling Collection Review

The idea behind the serums (and, I suppose, most serums in general) is that they give a very concentrated and potent shot of ingredients that’s quick to apply and easy to incorporate into your skincare routine. You massage in a few drops before you apply your moisturiser and that’s your “treatment” part of your routine ticked off – whether you’re worried about fine lines or lack of elasticity or the beauty perils of being exposed to pollution or to the elements, you’ve given yourself a very targeted solution without having to think too much about it.

The Vitamin Profiling Collection tackles pretty much any major skincare concern you can think of and allows you to mix and match as needed. So if you’re oily and battling breakouts one week then there’s a vitamin combination for that, and if the following you have to do a couple of flights for work and also have a boozy client dinner that leaves your skin looking like the surface of a prune, then there’s a combination for that, too.

As a very basic guide, the different serums have the following benefits:

Vitamin A: the powerhouse that gets everyone talking as it really is the business when it comes to tackling wrinkles and keeping the skin plump and supple. There’s nothing much it doesn’t do, helping with luminosity and evenness of tone as well as working on bumpy or coarse skin surfaces.

Vitamin B: I’ll be reviewing this serum separately, as it’s a brand new one and I really like it for its skin-renewing, brightening properties. It contains some pretty potent antioxidants, including ferulic acid, contains ingredients to boost hydration and has a massive whack of niacinamide in it to tackle lines and areas of uneven tone and pigmentation. It sounds as though it would be a good one for people suffering with adult acne, so very hormonal, temperamental skin that feels dry but also breaks out. I’ll get back to you on that one when I’ve had more of a trial and done some better research!

Vitamin C: again, a brilliant powerhouse of a serum that helps with luminosity, and stimulates collagen production for plumper and more elastic skin. The standout benefit, though, is that it’s a brilliant antioxidant and so vastly helps with protecting the skin against the environment and UV rays and preventing sun damage and pigmentation.

Vitamin E: the problem-solver, helping to soothe and repair when skin is dry, irritated, flaky and generally compromised. Again, a great antioxidant, but I’d be opting for this over the Vitamin C if my skin was feeling temperamental and tight.

Alpha-H Vitamin Profiling Collection Review

With the launch of the kit, Alpha-H have produced a profiling “wheel” that lines up your concerns and tells you which combination of serums to use for your specific problems – one serum for the morning and one before bed. I love this idea – it gives you a very simple and fuss-free guide so that you’re not inundated with about twenty-thousand skincare options.

In fact the Profiling Collection itself answers a big beauty need, in my opinion – the need to just be told in a very straightforward way exactly what you need to apply and when, without having to read lists of instructions or have dozens of different serums on your bathroom shelf. The wheel comes free with the kits on Cult Beauty here*, while stocks last, but there’s also a very handy written guide on the same webpage that you can refer to. It covers everything from dry skin with broken capillaries to uneven skintone and acne-prone skin.

List of skincare complaints and the serum solutions…

The Vitamin Profiling Collection costs £49.99 at Cult Beauty here.* There’s free P&P this month on Alpha-H purchases. ALSO, if you spend £70 or over on Alpha-H products then you get the amazing Beauty Sleep Peel (worth £54!) for free. See here for details. *UPDATE: goodness! I’m backwards and forwards with these updates! Apparently the Beauty Peel has sold out so won’t be added to your order if you spend £70 or more. Sorry.

I love the sound of these, something a little bit different with the wheel telling you exactly what to apply and when. I’m not the best with my skincare so I love the idea of something being made so straightforward, the vitamin A and B serums sound like they’d be my favourites.

I wish you had posted this a few days earlier. I just but the kit with Vit A,C, and E. Anyways I was wondering if you can talk about how to use the Vit A. Is it strong Retnoid? I admit I’ve bought the kit mostly for the vit C, and E but if this is beginner’s vit A I’ll use. I have never used any kind of vit A or retnoid in the past and I am 30+. Thank you for your informative posts.

    Hi Ruth –

I’m keen to pick these up but I’m seven months pregnant – is it just the vitamin A serum that I should save til after the baby is born?

Both The Uphill and this blog have been so helpful during my pregnancy, thanks!

This is such a great post Ruth, simple and straight to the point. I’m 30 and have adult acne breakouts but this week also dry patches on my face and around the spots (sorry probably TMI!) but its like you have answered my questions on what I should use! I looked at the ordinary and although extremely affordable, its also extremely confusing, thanks again for a great post!

I just received this kit in the mail last week from Cult Beauty and was so happy about the wheel too! It’s genius I think. So far so great with the serums (I am currently following the B in the am and E pm regime) my skin is loving them, hope you do too.
Speaking of loving, your Instagram stories are endlessly entertaining and wonderful, just as you are.

This seems to be featuring everywhere at the moment! I must check it out :)

It’s so helpful to have the break down of what each of the vitamins do. I know that they’re good and helpful but I wasn’t sure 100% how.

I bet my wheel would be constantly spinning, my skin ahs about every problem out there. I guess I should just apply all of them at once.

The vit B is a bit of an all-rounder for problematic.. x

A couple of months ago you highly recommended their “Beauty Sleep Peel”. It is absolutely brilliant, I love it. Certainly not for the faint hearted/sensitive skinned, but so very effective. I have been using Tretinoin for more than two years, and even I still see a difference (although I use “Beauty Sleep Peel” 4 to 5 times a week, not just the recommended twice a week). Thank you for your fantastic reviews.

This looks great – Just placed my order at Cult Beauty! A few sites say the serums should not be mixed but do you know if they can be layered and is the Vitamin A gentle enough to us daily?
