Some Beauty-Boosting Mood-Enhancers

beauty mood enhancers

Goodness I’m shattered. I mean really, really shattered. I’m not about to go into a huge whinge about why I’m so shattered, I just wanted to set the tone. Because the beauty products I’m about to tell you about have all had quite a dramatic effect on my mood in the last few weeks, making me feel instantly uplifted and giving me a bit of an energy boost. Or a moment of relaxing, mind-soothing escapism, depending on the time of day.

(Admittedly most of this mood-enhancing happens in my en suite, in the twenty minute gap between one baby drifting off to sleep for a nap and the older one waking up, which is far from a glamorous spa escape in some luxury Maldivian hotel resort, but you have to get your beauty kicks somewhere!)

The Queen of Hungary Mist from Omorovicza (from £25 here) has been a firm favourite for years and it lifts my mood whenever I spritz. It smells of orange blossom, feels refreshing on the skin and is – I should warn you – highly addictive.

Darphin’s Aromatic Cleansing Balm with Rosewood (£33 here) is a truly indulgent little treat. It’s pricey for such a small pot, so you wouldn’t want to use it by the bucketload to remove a face full of makeup, but a small amount melted onto the skin as a luxurious massaging cleanse is a thing of utter joy. The smell is just beautiful.

And then NEOM’s new Energy Burst Bath & Shower Drops (£40 here), which have become a key part of my shower routine. (Yes, I have a shower routine, but only because I’m trialling various things to do with my c-section scar such as plasters that need soaking off and tea tree oil that needs diluting and splashing on!) The Bath & Shower Drops from NEOM are excellent for the shower, you just dispense a full pipette’s worth onto your chest so that you can inhale the aroma as you do the rest of your showery things, and the scent is really zingy and happy and reviving. I’m always a bit sad when I have to rinse it off, but then I also have a tiny little perfume spritz with the same scent (£8 at Amazon Luxury Beauty here) that I keep in my dressing gown pocket* for when my spirits are flagging.

What are your mood boosters? I’m building up quite a collection of them in my bathroom cabinet, though they’re mostly luxury aromatherapy oils and sprays…any budget suggestions that don’t smell like Magic Tree?

Neal’s Yard Geranium and Orange Shower Gel does it for me, such an uplifting scent, it genuinely improves my mood. Not super affordable, but more so than the Neom. H x

Love this post – thank you! I get a REAL kick from the Treaclemoon Marshmallow Hearts products – they have a shower cream and now (very new!) a hand cream and the smell makes me feel just so incredibly happy! Even better, they only cost £2-£3!

The shower product that brings me the most happiness is Lush Rose Jam shower gel, I literally sigh with happiness every time I smell it. The Rose Argan body butter is pretty fabulous too, very decadent and sumptuously rich.
Roger et Gallets Bois de Orange is really uplifting, and zingy, very cheering!
I really sympathise with u over having 2 babies, and little time to rest, so many demands on you’re time! mine are 19 months apart, and the first year was intense, having 2 babies to care for. Mine (boy and girl) are 4 and 5 now, and such good friends, the close age gap has really paid off.

The Aurelia skincare Miracle Balm Cleanser. It was my morning pick me up when my son was still a newborn and my daughter entering the terrible two stage.

Ah this was a much needed read for this Friday. I am loving the new Farmacy Green Clean cleansing balm. It really removes all my makeup but smells oh limes and a summer drink. It is so important to buy things that make you happy or sane.

Ordered the Queen of Hungary mist and really looking forward to spritzing it on !! Tried the new Guerlain Bergamot Calabria this morning and have to say it very much lifted my mood! Think I am going to treat myself – it’s about £48 for 100ml so it’s not too bad!

There’s a lovely brand called 100 Acres which I discovered when I stayed at a hotel in the Cotswolds. They are a tiny company but the quality is brilliant. The aim of the products is to smell like 100 acres of flowers/lovely countryside (sounds like it could be way too much – it isn’t!). The smell of their hand cream, shower gel and body cream is SO lovely and uplifting.

Haha me too! It was my go-to to fill a bath with when i as feeling down as a student, 15 years ago. I still love it now and it brings back memories of being 18 and in my first term at Uni!

I’ve been dying to try the DeMamiel Pregnancy Facial Oil ever since I saw you breathing in the smell in one of your videos. However, it is not a budget option and I am not pregnant. But it’s description says that it is good for any hormonal imbalance and any distressed skin, and I am both distressed and menopausal! So question: is it worth the $$? Does it really smell that divine? I do need a lift!

Byredo Mojave Ghost body wash and their Oud Immortel. But it’s SO damn expensive.

NEOM looks amazing, will have to check it out. :)
