How to Cheat Healthy Glowing Skin!

perfect glowing foundation

A voiceover video for you because I can’t yet talk for more than two minutes without breaking out into the most unladylike, honking cough. It’s actually surprisingly difficult, when making videos, to get all of the different elements to come together without error; to get your words right at the same time as keeping the camera in focus at the same time you’re trying to blend foundation sans mirror. Having a cough is not ideal addition to the mix- neither is filming twenty minutes of video to find that you’ve got a THREAD hanging off your eyebrow.

Anyway, I thought you’d be interested to see my most recent foundation “routine” – using one brush to buff and blend a whole load of things together, creating a perfect, glowing base. Star of the show, for me, is the new Clinique “Even Better” foundation in a compact. I don’t usually like compact foundations so much, but this one is dreamy. You can really customise your coverage by building it up at the centre of the face and sheering it out towards the edges. I know that you can do this, theoretically, with any foundation but the texture of this one lends itself particularly well. (This foundation comes out next week.) I’ve used a Louise Young super foundation brush to buff it in and then my trusty old Chanel Bronzing Base to add colour and a bit of contour. Benefit’s Fine One One (see tomorrow’s post) and a touch of Lancome highlighting serum and there’s your healthy base.

Of course you could recreate this look with any of your own products, but I would say that the pearly pink eyeshadow from the Dr Hauschka trio is an absolute triumph – make sure you pay close attention to the way it catches the light. It’s just gorgeous! Very, very flattering, unlike many of the pinkish spring shades (see post on shadows that are like icing a mouldy cake here).
