My Updated Autumn Makeup Look

autumn makeup tutorial

Here’s the Autumn makeup look from Monday’s video, shown in full. And yes I did revise it and remove the dark, harsh eyeliner! Although many of you actually really liked it (thank you for your kind words) I couldn’t quite get my head around it and so I re-filmed using shadow around the lashline for softer definition. (For those who wanted an eyeliner look, fear not – there is one in the pipeline and it’s much nicer. More dramatic but less…ageing.)

On a different note, I am becoming quite attached to the Becca Mineral Blush in Damselfly – it’s such a good, tawny bronzer. Or brownish blush. (Isn’t there a silly word for a product that’s half-bronzer-half-blusher? Blonzer is it? I hope not, that’s a ridiculous word if I ever heard one.)

Right – on with the vid. You’ll see I’ve used the Clarins Ever Matte Foundation, even in the re-film. I have to say it’s not my favourite base in the world, but it does do a great job of keeping oil in check. It sits a little strangely on places such as the end of my nose and the middle of my forehead, but only if I look at it incredibly closely. As in, zoomed in by about twenty times on my computer screen. A few people asked on Youtube why I didn’t powder but I think the fact that it’s a matte foundation speaks for itself – at any rate, I can’t understand this obsession with powder. If you need powder, put some on, it’s not mandatory and often it’s just not necessary. It certainly doesn’t need to be demonstrated in every single makeup video that goes out into the world! Maybe I’ll do a video on powdering and – more importantly – over-powdering.

All of the products used in this look are detailed below and the video itself is at the bottom of the page. If you are reading via email then please click here for the video – enjoy!
