Dr Hauschka have changed their packaging for the summer 2013 makeup collection and I think that it looks incredibly swish. Rose gold foil with black detailing. I especially like the black pictures of the brushes that run along the length of the packets – there’s something distinctly retro about it, but at another glance it looks modern and cool. It’s just quite different to everything else that I’ve seen recently – I hope that Hauschka decide to adopt this packaging long-term.
And the contents? Well, the brushes are very good indeed. Quality natural hair that holds the powder shadows really well and blends nicely. I’ve tried the eye definer brush and the blender and both work perfectly with Hauschka’s own shadows. They can tend to be a little bit on the soft side and kick up a bit of dust, so I think that it’s important to find brushes that grip the powder rather than some of the smoother, shinier synthetics that might just drop shadow all over the place!
The summer shadow trio is lovely – I’ve been wearing it for the last week or so over fashion week and the colours have been well selected. I’ll pop this into a video soon, but for reference there’s a pretty deep cream colour with a hint of shimmer, a pearlescent purply-pink and a mid-chocolate brown. I’ve been using the pink all over my lids with the brown blended in towards the crease of the eye and also using the brown along the lashline for some definition.
It looks rather more dark in the photograph than it perhaps does in real life, but you get the gist. Staying power is pretty good – it doesn’t make it for the whole stretch of a “London Fashion Week” day, but it has a fair go. Those looking for makeup that’s free from scent and synthetic preservatives will love it – that’s not my particular preoccupation but I still keep coming back to this little palette day after day, so it must be good!
This range doesn’t launch until March but I’ll pop a note in my diary to remind you when it’s out. You can pre-order, I think, at Dr Hauschka
