I thought nothing could surpass a scarecrow which starred in a festival near me in Christchurch. One cottage had a Jeremy Clarkson crashed into a hedge...that kept me happy for weeks. However these are so fabulously eccentric in a 'why don't we kill some time rolling a cheese down a hill' kind of way that I think a squashed Jezza might have lost the top spot.

Quite Early on in my marriage, my in-laws were living in a ‘chocolate-boxy’ village in Wiltshire (Keevil) and my sister-in-law ‘made’ / coerced me into joining in with the Making of a scarecrow for a Trail there … As a ‘city girl’, I will admit to finding it a bit disturbing How Seriously they took the whole thing !!! But Fair Point, some of them are Very Clever, and anyway, What an Excellent name for a village ; Feckenham ! (FYI : I once lived in Beckenham. which is very nice, and all, but Far more Urban 😆)

Beckeneham, twinned with Feckenham

That would have had more impact had I not spelled Beckenham incorrectly wouldn’t it

I mean, There's Definitely a Limerick in there, somewhere, isn't there....

"A Lady Who lived up in Feckenham,

Oh So Wished She'd Never Left Beckenham,

She Mounted Her Horse; beat him (gently, Of Course)

And Trotted her way off to Ickenham..."

Just Call me a Poet (who Didn't know it, and should Probably take her 'Career' as a 'Stay At Home Mum' VS "PTA Mentalist", a Bit More Seriously - haha!

This is the kind of post that makes me want to uproot my family and move to England. I already have extended family there, so we’d have a community.

And the Dolly Parton scarecrow!

I know!!! I wonder if we moved there though we would be disappointed on the 363 days where there was no scarecrow festival
