Origen is fantastic food - just be prepared for them to turn their nose up at any other brands after they make the switch. My yorkiehuahua has refused anything but Origen for the last 10 years. The vets are amazed at how healthy she is, blood tests and all. She’ll be 17 this year 😊

My tiny cat has regularly regurgitated her food, despite me feeding her smaller portions, more regularly and more recently it'd increased to nearly every other day. Bought the bowl, and once she'd got over her initial dislike of the change, she's not been sick once. Bloody amazing - thank you!

Truly do not know how the Substack algorithm read my mind and knew I needed this (maybe my computer can hear the feline regurgitation sounds in the background??) but I'm so glad I ran across it! This has been a lifelong problem for my cats and it's so gross and I cannot wait to try your tip. Hoorah!

Hello from Australia Ruth! Tis Di Temperley one of your OG gang. Been with you throughout your social media career and still love your content, and to be honest I find you to be one of the best humans I’ve ever ‘met’ online 🥰. Now this cat vom post is right up my alley (obs not literally) as I have 2 Birman babies. I say babies, they are about to turn 3, but as my own human babes have finally grown up and all fled to the four corners of the earth, the kittens make us both feel semi needed and useful. Now we have a vommer, Luna. Her tummy has always been a bit tender, thus lots and lots of cat vom. I make all of their food, as I have for their 5 brothers and sisters who are waiting at the rainbow 🌈 bridge for us all. They are groomed daily as they are mid length fur, but a double coat = knots, bazillions of them (joke)😭. 4 weeks ago in the wee dark hours, Luna projectile vomited all over the only bit of carpet in our entire house. Never the beautiful wooden floors, only the cream coloured carpet in the bedrooms and hallway. What came flying out of a 4 kg cat actually stunned us both into sheer panic. I’ll spare you the details… Of course it was 03:00am and so off to the emergency vet hospital and had immediate life saving surgery. She sadly lost most of her small intestines because she had developed a complete bowel obstruction. Pathology diagnosed Inflammatory bowel disease. Now I’ve had to put them both on prescription only cat wet and dry food. Poor Indi (Luna’s sister) keeps looking longingly at the fridge hoping her ‘real’ food will magically reappear 😭 So, thank you so much for sharing about the proper eating position. ps All of my other furbabes lived long healthy lives, 17, 19, 18, 17 and 19.

Our cat does the “I’m starving, have some stomach juice” vomits, and always on the carpet. If it’s available in the UK I recommend Folex for cleaning- it’s miraculous.

What a gorgeous chonky boy!💕

Wish I’d known this in the 00’s. Our Sophie did it outside & standing in pussy puke in bare feet was 🤢. She lived to the ripe old age of 21 so it didn’t harm her. She was a hunter too. DH was her God & she laid many tiny bodies/body parts out for his inspection!

That dog food site was a blessing when we got Mr Jarvis Cockapoo. We chose Orijen for him. Good stuff & a days food was less than a quid!

Whoa! I have never thought through this but it makes complete sense! I often catsit my neighbor’s feline, a very tall floofy girl who regurgitates regularly, and may try this out next time he (neighbor) is out of town! I’ll look like a genius. Or meddler.

Mr Bear I hope does not try cat ozempic! Our cat is extremely polite and in the 4 years we have had him he has never regurgitated in the house, he must only do it outside! He has a voracious appetite though stays relatively slim. My 16 year old twins long for him to get fat! I don’t think I can show the pictures of Mr Bear to them! They would immediately plan to force feed Prima

This was excellent reading, despite my no longer having a cat. I am very invested in the antics of Mr Bear!

I found the demise of my carpets easier to accept when I read that cats search for a surface to vomit on that won’t lead to it splashing back in their face. Can’t really begrudge them that.

Thanks Ruth, I’m trying the paperbacks now as my fluffball Luna has recently started regurgitating her food daily. She is taking some of it out of the bowl to eat on the floor, which isn’t entirely helpful (thanks babe), but this action is, I suppose, also slowing her down. Fingers crossed!

Right. I threw my spider plant out as she was eating it and apparently it’s hallucinogenic for cats. And then, after about a week, she stopped throwing up. So either the plant took a week or so to get out of her system, or the raised bowl on the paperbacks is working. Either way it’s better and now I don’t want to take the paperbacks away!!

Our cat had to wear a cone for about 6 weeks after an op and those elevated bowls were brilliant for him to eat from wearing his cone because he could put his the whole cone over the bowl instead of garrotting himself when the bottom of the cone hit the floor.

Makes perfect sense Ruth. Thankyou, and I like the research about ingredients in pet food and the rubbish filler in many of them.
