I have had long hair for years, but recently went mid length to make it easier to tie up (without the sore scalp) as my baby is trying to scalp me! I really miss my long hair but I know it will grow and this is temporary! When exactly do they grow out of the desire to yank your hair!?
I'm in the midst of mid-length madness. Reading your brilliant article my only joy now is knowing that I am not alone. I will keep my sword in it's sheath until my commander says, 'Fight!' ... or something like that. 🤔
I had waist length hair in junior school, until I was chosen for the school swimming team and it was decided that as it wouldn’t fit under those rubber swimming caps, it had to be chopped off. Then I decided swimming was too cold in the winter, and took up ballroom dancing instead. Hair grew again so that it could be backcombed to within an inch of its life, with copious amounts of hairspray. Since then the length has been up and down from pixie cuts to Claudia Winkleman’s fringe. Now I’m waiting for the grey to appear a lot more before a hairdresser transforms me into a beautiful silver grey, and I go back to a chin length bob ☺️.
Waaah but what if you are one of those girls with fine hair (but a lot of it) whose hair REFUSES to go beyond shoulder length before frizzing and going all stringy. Is our only option to get extensions ? I get there are worse things in life but gawd I want big bouncy thick hair that shines and is easy to blow dry 😩😩
Then mid-length it is! I think mid-length is great once you’ve decided that’s it. Or if you love it on purpose. It’s the indecision it kicks up for the grower-outers/cut-it-shorters! 🤣

Love this. I suppose that’s the other way of looking at it - just do the bloody cuts! All of them!
Pre 50 I had long curly hair. I straightened for nights out but otherwise it was wash, leave-in conditioner & go.
Post 50? String. Bobbed it, got mid length & string.
At 60 I went white pixie & other than the occasional humid, frontal merkin moment it’s straight & needs little attention.
Never thought I’d go really short but needs must
And love it? Have to say that after years of bleach abuse mine just seems fluffier and madder the longer it gets now…
I love the passing through anology 😄 Mid lengther here 🙋♀️. I'm trying to sit with it and in this particular week it's OK 🙌
Same. But next week I’ll hate it.
So so true. And bad timing as I'm off for a cut today. Might just have a tidy up rather than a chop...
What did you go for?
I don't have that problem
