Author and content creator Ruth Crilly with October's five favourite things. Including her book of the month, the best high street jeans and literature inspired soaps that will make perfect Christmas gifts.
I had my colours done barely a week ago and when I say it’s life changing I am not even exaggerating. I’ve scoured the internet and charity shops and I’ve got a whole new wardrobe! And I love it! It’s such an efficient way to shop, too - I just look / filter for my colours. Cuts out all the crap. I’ve found a new confidence, a joy in clothes which I’ve never had, and it’s just so much less stressful as I’ve got such lovely clothes that all coordinate together to wear without even thinking. Love. It. I also got makeup and jewellery recommendations. What’s been great is over the years there have been clothes / colours I knew suited me, and ones that didn’t, and it’s validating. I’ve been told I look more vibrant and healthy. I’ll take that!
Yes it’s wardrobe-changing isn’t it?! I have found myself gravitating back towards black a lot recently though. More because EVERYTHING seems to be black, or brown, and the models always look so chic in it! But yes. When I pin down a top or jumper or whatever in the right colour it makes so much difference to my face!
If you're a corduroy trouser person (it's cold, you should be if you aren't already!) the Poetry wide leg ones are lovely and warm, stretchy and comfy too. They were an excellent chazza shop find here ☺️
Those soaps! I love them :-)
Wouldn’t they make great Christmas presents with a leather bound note book or similar?
That book is so cute! I gave it to my mum (a big Lake District lover) and I think she’s since recommended it to every person she knows.
Cute is exactly the word I should have used to describe it!!

I’ve got so many black things. I was delighted that black is one of my “colours”!!
Oh you lucky so and so 🤣🤣
