Cleanse:
Weleda Skin Food Cleansing Balm 75ml, worth £13.50. One of my top discoveries of the year, this cleansing balm. I challenge you not to fall in love with it. Smells amazing, does a brilliant job of getting off all makeup and sunscreen, leaves no greasy residue behind. It’s a triumph and all at an amazing price-point, so once you do fall in love without you won’t think twice about repurchasing.
Vitamin C:
Gatineau Radiance Enhancing Vitamin C Serum 30ml, worth £52.00. Almost justifies the cost of the entire beauty box in one fell swoop, this fancy Vitamin C serum. This has a gorgeously lightweight, silky texture and is properly effective at brightening, helping to even out skintone and leaving your face with a megawatt glow.
Moisturiser:
Alpha-H Firming Collagen Repair Cream 15ml, worth £15.99. I’m a very long-term fan of Alpha-H, they make so many of my favourites, and this plumptious face cream is another 10/10 from me. Leaves my skin feeling bouncy and juicy but without any of the heaviness or greasiness that some richer creams leave.
Sunscreen:
Ultra Violette Queen Screen SPF 50+ Luminising Skinscreen 75ml, worth £42.00. If you’ve never had the pleasure of testing this, let me tell you it’s the best-smelling sunscreen I’ve ever used. It smells and feels like some kind of swanky spa serum! Slips on beautifully, leaves a luminous glow that seems to make any foundation that sits on top look dewier and fresher, comes in this gigantor 75ml bottle. What’s not to love?
Retinol:
RoC Derm Correxion Firm + Sculpt Lifting Serum Stick 30g, worth £39.99. I love these RoC serum sticks; you can use all over your face, neck and chest for your retinol hit but they work particularly well just under the chin where you usually miss when you’re applying product. (Or I do, anyway.) It’s just the perfect fit. I use mine every single day and it’s one of the most satisfying parts of my routine.
Neck and Dec:
PRAI Beauty Ageless Throat & Decolletage Creme - Intensive Gold+, 30ml worth £24.00. PRAI have long been the Queens of Neck Stuff, with incredible user testimonials and rave reviews. This potent cream feels gorgeous to apply and doesn’t leave the neck area feeling tacky or sticky, which is one of my pet peeves with neck products. Easy to incorporate into your routine before applying your sunscreen, or you can keep it beside the bed and apply it last thing at night.
Mask:
Emma Hardie Vitamin C Brightening Hydrogel Facial Mask, 1 Mask worth £15.00. Well this is a fancy treat. A one-use mask to brighten, tone and hugely hydrate, the next best thing to a facial, really, if time is of the essence and you need to look the part. Which is a polite way of saying, “if you’re hungover/knackered and need to pull yourself together for the wedding you’re a bridesmaid at, that starts in five hours’ time”. This has so much serum in the mask and the pouch it comes in that you can actually do your arms and legs, too, which is today’s top tip! I also put the face mask onto my chest once I’d finished with it, and kept it on whilst I did my makeup. I like to make the most of these luxury buys!
Brow & Lash Serum:
Brow Aid The S.O.S Advanced Brow & Lash Recovery Mask 5g, worth £23.00. I seem to have reactions to most lash serums: not this one! Hurrah! It’s prostaglandin-free (I think maybe it’s the prostaglandin I usually have an issue with?) and a cinch to apply - just comb through the brows and use the applicator tip to apply to the roots of the lashes - and helps to support growth as well as optimise brow and lash health. This is a new discovery for me, but I have tested loads of Brow Aid products and all have been superb.
HAIRCARE
Treatment:
Philip Kingsley Elasticizer Deep-Conditioning Treatment 75ml, worth £22.00. This is just a classic. You apply before your shampoo and conditioner and it helps to completely restore the elasticity and strength to your hair - a very necessary maintenance step if you colour or heat-treat your hair and a great treat even if you don’t. I apply a few hours before my hair wash and put a shower cap over it to really let it get to work. As a life-long hair-bleacher, I dread to think what my hair would be like if I didn’t use this!
Shampoo + Conditioner:
Living Proof Full Shampoo and Conditioner DUO 2 x 30ml, worth £14.00. This little duo will present you with a new haircare obsession; they really do help to give you extra lift and bounce, especially if you have fine, flat hair. If I use Living Proof Full Shampoo and Conditioner and then my heated rollers, the volume is actually borderline ridiculous!
Styling:
Hair by Sam McKnight Happy Endings Nourishing Balm 30ml Mini, worth £22.00. This is my styling saviour. Instantly defrizzes and smooths split ends and gives my hair that cool, tousled sort of separation I can’t get any other way. It’s particularly great because it works so well on fine, flat hair too - it’s hugely effective without being heavy or greasy or weighing the ends of my hair down. I use on both damp hair pre-styling and as a finisher on my dried hair. An essential.
Dry Shampoo:
REHAB Mini Essential Dry Shampoo 25g, worth £15.00. I really like that in some ways Rehab have gone quite old-school with their products. This is a puff-in-and-rub powder that does away with the aerosol and some of the associated ingredients that can sometimes irritate your scalp. It’s just very simple and gentle. Puffing it in takes a tiny bit of practice, but if you normally tear through whole cans of dry shampoo at a time then this is, in many ways, a more concentrated way of doing things.
BODY
Gatineau Golden Glow Gradual Tan 75ml, worth £20.00. One body product and, incidentally, the only one you really need, what with the end of the summer and the colder, bleaker weather days ahead. This foolproof gradual tanner gives a sunkissed glow with the same effort level as simply rubbing on a body lotion. I use a mitt to apply, out of habit, but if you remember to thoroughly wash your hands afterwards, there’s no peril of tan lines or streaks with this brilliant product. Even one application a week will maintain the sort of bronzage that you might have picked up over a long weekend in Ibiza. Perfecto!
