This week finds me doing what I do every single year, at about this time: obsessively searching for the magical keystone wardrobe items that will fix all of my dressing woes.
Fantastic about Dove I hadn’t spotted. Had tried the Sure version - same company - but a bit brutal, although loved the concept. Bought the Dove spray version lovely the lav & cam fragrance. Husband just popped to Boots and I asked him to look for cream version. Oh it’s gorgeous and fab intro half price. Really like the cream application, wouldn’t normally consider a cream deodorant but vg for summer underboobage and thighs.
Btw on Friday my sis and I both children of the 60s went to Richmond to see Malory Towers off your reco, absolutely joyous! So clever, funny and happy.
I’m just confused about these 'all-new' all-over deodorants. Surely they’re just a version of Impulse/Lynx/etc which have been around for decades now — as in, a light perfume replacement? If they’re not antiperspirants then they’re not going to do anything more dramatic than add another layer of scent 🤷🏻♀️.
Well the spray I suppose is quite similar to that, that’s why I like it because my teens were one huge cloud of body spray! 🤣 The stick and cream, though, they have a glidey silky feel that’s very different. Reporting back on those.
The AKT deodorant is blooming amazing - been using it for a year or so, best thing ever for underarms and rest of body (made by west end performers - to help with sweaty bodies on stage - similar to peri/menopausal me during the recent hot days and nights - oh god the nights were like the fires of hell......
Clothes wise - shorts were ok but will they be cool enough as more structured/fitted?
Dress - nice but def seen you in insta looking lovelier - but looks cool
Jacket - as above
Actually you always look good so don't listen to me (my fav shorts are a pair of sainsburys own brand one size too big for coolness and bagginess - so what the heck do I know about fashion - although I don't leave the house in them obviously!)
Love the shorts but I mainly need to know where the bikini top and shirt are from? Impressed your belly button has grown teeth. Brushing your teeth must be quite a lengthy process.
I can absolutely vouch for the Dove cream - it's a bit dreamy and during the heatwave was nice to apply something that felt in any way cooling without being thick. 10/10.
I don’t like above the knee shorts on me anymore. So my new way is with Linen or a similar drapery fabric Bermuda style shorts - too knee, or mid knee cap and an oversized linen shirt. 3 plus open buttons; sleeves rolled up. Partly tucked in at the front or not. Sandals or slides *or* a kitten heel to dress up if required. The insouciance of it is MWAH. For a heatwave, or humidity, it is cooler and sun protecting too.
Why don't the English have air con? Personally, I don't either, I live in Australia, have 150 yr old house so air con doesn't really suit it. Oh, is that the reason the English don't either? Because your houses are so much older?
Anyway, thanks for the preview. Love the dress, adore the jacket and ambivalent about the shorts. You look terrific in anything, so who needs my opinion?😊🫠
Yes, probably because a lot of houses are old but also a lot of the new houses built en masse they just do as cheaply as possible with no thought to anything other than the bottom line of cost. Probably.
Also historically we have not been a warm country AT ALL and there have only been a few days of the year that we would have needed it….

Love You. Ti Amo.
The belly button part.
Hahaha!

I think my friends’s theatre company has just hooked up with AKT!

HAHAHHA!!! Bikini top is boden, they still have them but it’s USELESS at keeping boobs in place! Shirt is H&M last year x

I’m trying to prise myself away from the spray to properly give the cream and stick a chance! 🤣

Ah, the French tuck! Is that what it’s called, when you half tuck it in?
