I am a huge fan of supermarket tortilla - and they have nice long dates which is ideal for scatterbrains like mine. I bought two in Tesco last week (2 for £5) that are dated 2028 which seems absurd.
Also primark moving? Are they going into the old M&S unit in Bath? Primark came to Bath halfway through my undergrad and I remember it being such a big deal.
I 100% also think of great ideas for other kids that I'd never manage for mine... she just gets "boredom is good for you, why don't you go and draw a guinea pig" bless her 🫠
one of my friends has made an app for kids taking pictures called Lemon Squeezy - big shutter button, local file storage to stop their mental pictures ending up in your library, setting limits on number of pictures etc. very fun! I am yet to try it bc he hasn't made it for android yet 🙄 but the Child Master Photographer Competition TM reminded me of that, because good grief the amount of times I've found circa 25 blurry pictures of the same squirrel/duck/cat on my phone...
also just had to read the description of the terrified chicken verbatim to my partner to explain why I woke him up laughing!
I followed your "Start writing" command a year ago and now write a "Without Portfolio" column for our local paper. No pay, however, although I suffer before every deadline just as much as those well compensated writers do. The "white page", you know. I figured out that it didn't really matter what I wrote. As long as I found the subject somewhat interesting, some other soul would too. Like the time I, a harried mother with two wee ones, had to scoop up the crying wee one while answering the door, only to realize I had also scooped up the hem of my dress thereby standing at the door exposing my undies to a total stranger. At least I had some on.
I don't know what made me laugh more - the photo of the quizzical look on your face after the bombardment of questions from your kids, or the description of the terrorised hen's eye. I've been ill all week and this cheered me up so much, thank you - your writing is a joy.
