Kicking off the week with a bit of a shopping treat; Space NK are offering A Model Recommends readers £10 off when they spend £40 or more online. The idea is that you try something new and put the £10 towards a product that you’ve been meaning to try or that you’ve heard great things about, but there’s nothing to stop you stocking up on your old favourites if that’s what you want to do. I won’t tell if you don’t…
As this is an online only code, may I suggest that if you’re thinking of using it to try out my most favourite ever foundations (By Terry’s Cover Expert or Sheer Expert or, if you have a spare fortune lying about, the ultimate Densiliss) then perhaps pop into a store and do a bit of shade-testing before buying online. Just to be safe. If you’re a risk-taker and a beauty thrill-seeker and just want to throw caution to the wind with your foundation purchasing, then know that I use a shade 7 in the Densiliss and it is an absolutely perfect match. And the finish is bloody gorgeous – I’m just about to publish a video with a demo in, so hold your horses for that if you fancy seeing it in action. (Find it here online.)
Foundation aside, my Space NK lust list is about three miles long, so I’ve tried to truncate it and round up a few suggestions for you, just in case you’re stuck for ideas. Thank me later, or not, depending on how you feel about your resulting bank balance!
(To get the £10 “Discover” perk, enter the code RUTH20 in the promo code box. This offer code is exclusive to A Model Recommends readers and is valid until the 16th April 2014. Please see bottom of page for terms and conditions*.)
1 ILA Spa Tuberose and Rose candle for Inner Peace. This is the ultimate spa candle – it’s heady, exotic and relaxing and you feel as though you’ve had a full-on, spiritually uplifting treatment even though you’re actually just lying on the floor of your office wearing a tracksuit and using a camera bag as a pillow. (NOT me, that’s just an imaginary person I’ve thought up.) Find it here.
2 More ILA Spa – this time, the Bath Oil for Glowing Radiance. I’ve featured this bath oil quite a few times, now; it’s incredibly unusual. Just like the candle, it’s got a very heady and exotic scent and you only need a very small amount to transform your bath into a kind of relaxation lagoon. If you want to read my previous mentions, have a look here – otherwise you can find the oil here at Space NK. It’s £51 pre-discount, so quite the indulgence, but as I said. Little goes a long way.
4 Some little bits and pieces from REN that are totally knockout! Firstly an oil/serum called Vita Mineral Omega3, which is just brilliant if you feel as though your skin needs a bit of a boost. It’s incredibly light – doesn’t have any greasy residue – but surprisingly powerful, and I think that the price (£23!) is equally surprising. Use before your moisturiser or, as I do, before applying your tinted moisturiser or BB cream or whatever it is that you go on with. Find that here. To bump things up to the qualifying £40, take a look at the EverCalm and Rosa Centifola cleansers, all here.
5 My new favourite perfecting and radiance-boosting powder: the Eve Lom Mineral Foundation. I am keen, keen keen on this stuff. I actually tend to sweep it over aforementioned BB/CC creams as a kind of finishing touch – it’s like someone throwing a very fine veil over your face, making everything just slightly softer and more blurred. Genius. If you want to see it in action then take a look at my review post – otherwise, it’s online here. £45 before you’ve used the Ruthie’s Bonus. I use shade “Ivory 2”. (OOOH! I like the look of the brush that goes with it…has anyone used the Eve Lom brushes? Let me know!)
Of course, there’s always the favourite posh candle from Diptyque (exactly £40) or my long-time eye cream favourite, StriVectin (£55) and if you’re fond of top-quality lipsticks then make sure you browse the Lipstick Queen aisle. The Glossy Pencils are wonderful. Also take a look at NUDE if you’re on the hunt for effective skincare with carefully chosen ingredients. The cleansing oil’s a good one and I like the new serum – great if you like a weightless, non-oily formula.
