Box of delights is part of my Christmas. My brothers have managed to get my neicephews to also feel this (my sisters in law are still bemused generally by it) I defy you to not feel deeply Christmassy after the final episode and I think it’s on the iPlayer.

Not laughing at the nostalgia around nicking a tree from the local park. I’ve had beloved trees on my property stolen for Christmas “festivities.” Trees I planted and nurtured. It causes real emotional pain. Not a joke.
In the 1980s here in the US, department stores revealed their decorated windows on Thanksgiving weekend. I miss that clear start to the holiday season.
No way! I didn’t even think that was a thing, plant stealing! This was a council estate in the 80s and the park was a, well, council park. Wasn’t us nicking but it happened!
It’s common enough that I used to top my young conifers, or chop off branches, to make them less attractive to thieves. Some people douse their trees in stinky stuff or use spray paint on them.
